Tyson was 80-100 more pounds than Lee.

If he laid one hand on him its completely over. I'm going with Tyson.

No offense, but I have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm arguing the objective pros and cons of each fighter, based on what we know. Virtually everything about Tyson's fights we know - the good, the bad and the ugly. Lee did not fight anything like his movies present. All we get from that are his capabilities, which have been edited, of course, but he did not use stunt doubles (who could double that?)

On the other hand, we have the reports of him fighting in the street, sparring in the dojos, simulated contact and all that, in addition to his demonstrated physical capabilities, his writings on unarmed combat, etc.

What we don't have is a string of no holds barred competitions the 2 engaged in, so all of this is speculation.

I do not see the problem in my presenting objective facts and making arguments based on those facts.

But this is silly - the consensus is that Tyson was more effective at 215 to 220 (which was 70 or so pounds heavier than Lee in his prime) - so, if a fighter comes along who is 300 does being 155 pounds heavier than Lee make him twice as likely to defeat him as Tyson would have been?

No. Size, beyond certain advantages that come with mass, is irrelevant to a point. Marvin Hagler, in his prime, had enough punching power to knock out the average 150 pound man. Tyson was one of the hardest punching heavyweights in history. We can probably leave it at that.

It would be better for an "in his prime" Tyson to fight Lee closer to 210 pounds for speed - he doesn't need to develop any more power in this contest, he needs to deliver his natural power more quickly and accurately.

Swing and a miss on the point, and you clearly didn't understand the point of "beauty," or read the first paragraph of the response.

I read it and your "point" was nonsensical garbage that every kid that takes karate tries to spew. You are thinking way to much about this. In all the fights I have seen the bigger stronger guy always wins. They can absorb the hits and eventually get a hold of the smaller weaker guy no matter how "quick" he is. Bruce Lee's choreographed moves wouldn't do shite against an opponent twice his size.

Apparently these people think that they are just going to box or something.

The weight difference is a factor, but Lee has a fighting style that is designed to mitigate such factors. Tyson has a fighting style that needs his opponent to be roped in with him.

No one thinks that.

No one knows what Lee's true fighting style is. No one's ever seen it.

We're on the same side of this argument, but if Jose Aldo gets Tyson in an armbar position, he could break that arm.

Yes, but how is this dude getting Tyson on the ground to get him in an armbar? When I wrestled, there was an experienced senior 3 weight classes lower who had a lot more skill than me. I would just overpower and break out of his moves or locks every time. I just don't think Lee could manipulate Tyson to get to that point due to Tyson's sheer strength.

True. Though, random side note. In Enter the Dragon, I believe, when he was fighting in the courtyard, he punched one of the stunt guys in the chest, sending him flying into some chairs and breaking them. He broke the guys chest doing so

How big of an area are they fighting in? People talking about reaction time must not realize that boxers aren't the slowest moving people on the planet. Also are both wearing gloves? If Tyson doesn't have a 16oz pad on his hand I'll take that any day. I don't think many people could stay conscious from a barehanded blow from Tyson.

You realize there are more ways than that to break an arm, right?

What if he just broke his knee? could he then?

I didn't say it was likely. Just that someone at that weight can break a bigger person's arm with the right technique.

You're talking about professional bouts of guys fighting in weight classes. I'm talking about a regular brawl.
