have two girls so i've seen it twice. i'm kinda with OP. It's in top 3.

some great nods to disney especially the bit about "you can't marry a man you just met".

a good plot (including a twist), some good comedy, and great songs.

they are a little more broadway-y than other disney songs. but the actual marriage of styles of the lopez's with the wife being a more traditional broadway writer and the husband writing for the book of mormon and avenue q i think worked out pretty well.

kristen bell and josh gad were great.

i'll also add that some of the best storytelling in disney/pixar happens in the beginning of "Up".

i feel like "do you want to build a snowman" approaches that realm of greatness a bit with the storytelling of their childhoods.

you learn of each of their struggles with isloation from each other as kids pretty perfectly in 3 min.

Aladdin FTW - only Lion King was better, IMO.

The beginning of Up was outstanding, yet depressing. But I feel like it needed that so you really felt Mr. Frederickson's pain the entire movie. It did a great job in accomplishing that.

Beauty and the Beast is hard to beat. It has everything: great animation, wonderful songs, a good princess, deep characters, and of course the most badass villain in Gaston.

I can watch the following Disney movies over and over:

Little Mermaid
Aladdin
Beauty and the Beast
Mulan
Pocahontas
Tangled

The one move I can't watch and find boring is The Lion King. Deal with it.

The OP has a prime example of what is called "recency bias." It is a behavioral finance term that means the more recent information is unduly influencing his decision-making.

Listening to Matthew Broderick try to be a grown up Lion with his girly singing voice is where they lost me. You go from James Earl Jones/Mufasa and Jeremy Irons/Scar to Matthew Broderick/Simba. OK.

Should really be in a different class from Frozen, Tangled, etc. The cell-drawn animation of that time was so ridiculously amazing that it would be unfair to lump the computer animated movies together with them.

It's a good unique story focusing on the unconditional love of siblings over the guy gets girl story.
It's up there with alladdin and lion king for me which are my favorite Disney animation (non Pixar) movies.

It has elements of the old school Disney mixed with the newer stuff (like tangled).

Olaf is one of the greatest Disney comic relief sidekicks of all time. The film did not have enough of him.

and my selections have to do with nostalgia, most likely.

Don't use your fancy book learned sorcery on me, Leon Phelps.

I've seen lots of Disney Animated movies. I prefer the CGI ones to the animated ones because they look better, but I'll concede the stories in the older ones are usually more solid.

The cold never bothered me anyway.
