. The books are light years better.

I'm speaking to the first one standing alone.

I may have a different opinion upon finishing the series.

Hunger Games movies are definitely better than Suzanne Collins' books; she's not a good writer. I'm curious to see what they'll do with Mockingjay; that book was definitely the weakest of the series and was painful to read, it was THAT bad.

As for ASOIAF, I tend to think both the show and the books are excellent, and some things have been done better in the show than in the books, and vice versa. They're both companions to each other. Can't imagine reading the books, and not watching the show; or watching the show, but not read the books.

The 10 Commandments.

Book was entirely too long. I also liked the sequal better than the book - Passion of the Christ.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was for the most part better paced than the book was. It would definitely a better film (well 2 films) than the book had they not done the stupid breaking of the Elder Wand. Anyone know why they changed that from the ending in the book? You know going to Dumbledore's office, repairing the Holly/Phoenix Wand, etc.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Based on the Stephen King novella "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" which appeared in the same collection as 'The Body' (Stand by Me based on it) and 'Apt Pupil' (film version with Brad Renfro.)
Damn good answer. Most of the King's adaptations are turrible. That one actually surpassed the source.

All of the film's based on that collection are arguably better than the book.

Found The Road better than the book because of McCarthy's pretentious and self-absorbed writing.

I disagree. Jurassic Park is the only book I have ever read twice.

There is only one right answer.
"To kill a mockingbird". If you doubt this, read the book, watch the movie.

Was going to post this, y'all beat me to it. One of my top 10 favorite movies. That isn't to say that the book wasn't good, though, the two are close.

I beg to differ. Really enjoyed both series along with GoT.

Book was good, but somewhat difficult to follow at times. Really creative though.
