Could an MLS Expansion Team work in New Orleans?

MLS Expansion Team
David Beckham is buying an MLS franchise and placing it in Miami. Now I know there are multiple factors that makes this a good deal, but lets say the price tag is $35 million for a team. Seeing as the MLS is growing rapidly, could New Orleans work?
Is there a big enough soccer following to have an MLS team, as seen the Pelicans struggle in competition with the Saints.

I would enjoy it greatly, but it would probably be me and 560 other fans in the seats.

Which is still stupid...we couldn't keep a hockey team. The fancy stadium may boost attendance for a while but it would be a disaster.

If the stadium is around 20k it will be fine with attendance but having the team play in the new falcons stadium would be a disaster esp since the falcons have attendance issues.

We have a team, the NO Jesters.
The attendance is also awful for those games.

New Orleans has a HUGE soccer following. Problem is I do not see a venue to have the games. on owner would want a stadium with boxes and lots of signage. None are available that i know of.

You lost the Thrashers because of shitty owners.

I mean partially true, bad owners and an awful team in a non-hockey loving city wasn't looking good.
I just don't see fans packing the stadium for an MLS team. There is a decent high school following and there seems like every couple of years there is a big international or premier league friendly in the GA Dome that gets packed, but I just don't see them selling 20k tickets game after game when pretty much all our sports suck with attendance when they're not really good.
Also, the Hawks pretty much just sell out when we play an elite team and people want to Lebron or KD. There won't be anyone going to see the Red Bulls or Sounders.

Does an MLS team work anywhere besides the northwest?

This is the main problem. The Sounders have a good following and play at C-Link, which is walking distance to several bars, but they cover the upper deck with tarps.

I think Houston, LA and Columbus have pretty good attendance.

NOLA has failed with a couple of minor soccer league teams in the Storm and Jesters.

The new New York team should do well considering it will actually be in New York.
