?? What are you using as a metric? He's 11-12 in the playoffs, and 1-2 in Super Bowls...

I do not--especially with Manning, who has eight (!) first-round losses in the playoffs.

Yeah I've got an issue of counting playoff byes as a win. I remember the thread that Ballcaster did using that methodology, and I disagree. IMO, Peyton gets plenty of credit for his ridiculously good regular seasons, hence the byes, but I don't believe you should count them as a win in the divisional round. Personally, I wouldn't count the wildcard round at all. Start with the divisional round.

Yeah he should be oh so proud of his one Super Bowl victory against a Rex Grossman led offense. He got schooled by a second year cornerback in Tracey Porter and didn't even show up yesterday. Not to mention all the years Brady owned his arse. No he is not the GOAT.

No. Nothing at all to hurt his Legacy.

To say that his legacy took a step back last night is to say that his legacy would have been better served by his not playing this season, and that just doesn't add up.

Manning has nothing left to prove in the regular season. He has done everything there is to do and been brilliant doing it. Nobody disputes that.
The question marks about him lie in his ability to perform on the biggest stages. Last night, on that stage, with a chance to erase that label he was terrible thus further adding to label.
He had a chance so shut everyone up last night and instead threw a barrel of gasoline on the haters fire.
The fact that he is so great in the regular season and so mediocre so often in the playoffs leaves a reasonable person to conclude he is either a stat compiler going against bad/average regular season defenses or a choker in the playoff. Neither shine a favorable light on him when being compared to the all time greats.

He has played in 3 Super Bowls, winning one. Don't diminish how difficult it is to win a Super Bowl.
Some people throw on this board throw "only one" Super Bowl around like it is no big deal.
Also, as has been said many times, Super Bowl wins are not the determining factor when deciding a players greatness. Not even close really.

Not really trying to turn this into a serious argument. Peyton is my favorite QB of all time (mainly because of his passing academy), but I do think he struggles in the playoffs. Be it true or false, this is my perception and I feel that this is shared with many others.

His winning percentage post season is below 50% and he has a reputation of losing the "big games". That is part of his legacy too. "Best regular season quarterback of all time surpassing Dan Marino", that is going to be his current legacy. He could turn that around though with a Superbowl win before he retires.
