Aeneas Williams, former Az Cards & StL Rams DB was the only secondary player elected this yr and Lynch was snubbed so lets compare
Aeneas Williams - played 13 years
8× Pro Bowl (1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2003)
4× First-team All-Pro (1995, 1996, 1997, 2001)
Second-team All-Pro (1994)
NFC champion
Bart Starr Man of the Year Award (1999)
NFL 1990s All-Decade Team
NFL Career Stats
795 Tackles
55 Ints
3 Sacks
John Lynch - played 14 seasons
9× Pro Bowl (1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)
4× All-Pro (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002)
Super Bowl champion (XXXVII)
NFL Alumni Defensive Back of the Year (2000)
Bart Starr Man of the Year Award (2006)
"Whizzer" White NFL Man of the Year (2006)
Junior Seau Foundation Legend of the Year Award (2010)
NFL Career Stats
1,058 Tackles
26 Ints
13 Sacks
(Shoe-in for 200's all-decade team)
Lynch has been eligible for induction since 2010, now I understand him not making it obviously in a nod to Deion (2 yrs ago I think?) but this year he should've been in over Aeneas Williams

The Junior Seau legend of the year award? In 2010? Who gives a shite?

that is mighty white of you to point that out.

You could kinda flip a coin with those 2. Neither really struck me as shoo in HOF types, though both were amongst the best at their positions for a while. Doesn't the HOF do weird stuff when it comes to inducting teammates in the same year?
I'm kinda surprised Will Shields didn't make it. Dude was like a 9 time All Pro and always mentioned with guys like Larry Allen and Faneca as the best guards of his era.

I think Brian Dawkins gets in before Lynch. Better player IMO

You are leaving out a few things about Williams
quote:
Over his career he accumulated a staggering 12 defensive touchdowns (9 interceptions returned for a touchdown, and 3 fumbles recovered for touchdowns), and 55 career interceptions, cementing his place as one of the most dominating defensive backs of his era. He also recovered 23 fumbles and gained 1,075 total defensive return yards (807 from interceptions and 268 from fumbles). He was also a 4-time All-Pro selection. His 268 fumble return yards are an NFL record

Williams was more of a coverage safety. Lynch was decent in coverage, but better in tackling/rushing the QB.
Different type of players. I appreciate your fandom, but Williams was just as good as Lynch, just in a different way. He deserves to be in and has been eligible longer.
Also, Lynch was part of a system (Tampa-2) and on great defenses. That will probably work against him. Some players on great teams are still waiting to get in. Reed had to wait until after Jim Kelly & Thurman Thomas, etc. of Buffalo. How long did Lynn Swann wait to make it?

No.
First Williams is a corner and Lynch is a strong safety. Second, Williams was easily one of the top corners of his generation. The only one of his contemporaries whom I would immediately take over him is Deion Sanders.
I have nothing against Lynch, but to argue that he should be in over Williams is absurd.

also, huge LOL at this. Lynch was a Bronco shell of himself by 2004. You may want to google Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu.

Meh...about the same...Williams all-decade, less around him. 55 pics...very strong!

His day will come, but this just was not the right time.

Both were great players, if I had two chose between the two, I feel Williams was better.
He was 1 of the 4 CBs chosen to the all decade team(90s), the other 3 were Sanders, Woodson, & Green.

That's a pretty big mark in Aenaes William's favor.

Actually he wasn't. Brian Dawkins and Ed Reed were the starters at safety with Troy Polamalu and Darren Sharper as the backups.

Lynch deserved it more. He'll get in eventually though.

Personally, I don't think Lynch is a HOF. If Steve Atwater doesn't get in Lynch does not deserve it. Andre Reed going in before Tim Brown is the better argument.

Williams was Mr. Pick 6 for a long while, The same could not be said about Lynch. Most of you guys seem to be making an argument for Lynch based on MLB standards. Williams was by far a better DB.
I know Williams was a corner and Lynch a S, but cover skills far out weigh some supposed fear factor by WR's from going over the middle. An argument could be made that Tampa's LB corps instilled that fear.
