re: How old is it too old to kiss your son?

My son will be 32 in March and I cannot remember a time that I haven't hugged and kissed him hello and goodbye. He always tells me he loves me before we hang up the phone of leave one another. There were times in his 20s when he would meet me while I was out with friends. Before he would get there I wondered to myself whether he would be embarrassed to hug and kiss me hello or goodbye in front of my friends. He never failed to do so. With some of the stuff he is going through recently, I have never been prouder of him.

I'm 27 and if he hasn't seen me in awhile my dad will give me a kiss on cheek. I never understood why some people make a big deal

I don't get it either.. My oldest brother is 43, he still gives my dad a hug and kiss on the cheek every time.. We do this as brothers as well. We have always been an affectionate family, nothing weird about that.

It's weird to people who don't do it. Just like it's weird to you that some people don't do it and think it's weird. I don't know if my dad has ever kissed me. I think he used to kiss me on the forehead when I was a little boy. That's what I do to my boys. They're 5 and 7 and already try to turn away when I do it.
There is no right or wrong answer here. You should do what you're comfortable with.
Except for kissing on the lips. That's weird. I don't care who you are.

No offense to you milady, but many also deem it strange to be a single woman into your 40's.
I don't personally care either way but there's a saying about those who throw stones..

Still kiss my boy. I get him to kiss me on the mouth. He's four. When he isn't cool with it he can tell me. I don't see why people get weird about a man kissing his on children. People just like to make bullshite out of something that is completely natural.
fricking freak.

Kissing on the cheek needs to stop by age 2 or 3. I fatherly kiss on the forehead is acceptable until about 10 or 11 I think.
Pure stupidity and insecurity . Why does a kiss on the cheek NEED to stop at 2 or 3?

My dad's always been an affectionate father, but never really through kissing. I know he kissed all 4 of his kids when we were young, but I think the only one he still kisses on the cheek is my sister. I hug my dad every time I see him and every time we say goodbye. Otherwise, he shows his affection by being playful. He likes to grab that sensitive spot above the knee and squeeze it just to frick with you. Before he had significant back injuries, he'd wrestle with us or play mercy. He likes to scare people too, when I lived with my parents I always was a little hesitant to come out of the bathroom because you never knew if he was going to be waiting there to make you jump . Stuff like that. My grandfather is the exact same way, except he also likes to make extremely sarcastic jokes.. he's got the driest sense of humor of anyone I've met. Sometimes you can't tell if he's just being an a-hole or joking. As he gets older, it's just being an a-hole most of the time Ornery old man.
My mom and both of my grandmothers were always very affectionate as well. I still kiss my grandmothers on the cheek and then give them a hug, both to say hello and goodbye. They return in kind.
I don't think this is odd at all

Not a day older than 37...anything beyond that and it gets weird.

I doesn't NEED to I guess, but there's nothing stupid or insecure about it. That's the way I was raised.

This.
Mine is 4. I assume at a certain age he will begin to look at me with the "cut that shite out" look. Then it will be the bro-hug with a back slap. But held a little longer when it is son.
Wanna talk about boys and manliness? Wife took Lil' Alum and me to see frozen. He fricking loves it. Runs around the house singing "Let it Go".

You will do the same with your kids as your parents did for you. At least that's how I see it. I will continue to kiss my baby girl until I physically can no longer do it. And when I have a son, I will do the same.
I don't even understand how this is debated. Showing your child affection shouldn't even be a question.
Tell ya what. Stop showing them affection and watch how different of a person they become.

I agree completely. Although I do think that at some point it gets a little weird if a father is kissing his son on the lips. I think once the kid gets 10,11, or at the latest starts hitting puberty, forehead kissing should be the norm. But to each their own, I guess.

For one, my boys don't like it anymore. So I kiss them on the forehead when they go to bed. I don't remember the last time my dad kissed me. I don't remember the last time my dad even told me he loved me. But I'm not an insecure person so I know he loves me.

But your mom loves your little brother more....

Yeah, he got more affection growing up. Explains why he such a frickup I think.

Considering that some places it is totally acceptable for men to kiss with no blood relation, if say you are never too old. My dad is 60 and still kisses me on the cheek when I haven't seen him in a while.
