Can we get a consensus that there really isn't a fast food combo like the jumbo bacon cheeseburger from The Rocket along with a shake? Maybe it's just me...

You're close! Its the Double Bacon cheeseburger, curly fries, and a chocolate shake. Also, make sure to call early so you can just walk up, pay, and leave like a boss.

There was a big time steroid dealer from Jennings just got 10 years and a $500K fine the other day. He was importing some sort of powder from China and cooking the roids himself and bottling it for sale. I only know this because a guy that works for me is from Jennings and was friends with him and was telling me about it today. Apparently the drug problem in Jennings is insane?

I want to say I heard about this. Who was he? Did he work at that supplement shop down by pigs?

It's worth noting that my perception was that the Sheriffs Office just didn't do all that much anymore. Maybe not so much corrupt as inept. That's just the impression I had.

Rocket is awesome but overall Jtown certainly not known for food. Remember Ms Ruth's biscuits?

That's what comes to mind when I think about steroids and Jennings.

Very well. I was very sad when that place was gone. I miss DonnE's too. Jennings really does suck as far as restaurants go these days. Maybe it's because everyone's momma cooks so good

I didn't get a name but my employee just mentioned it in passing today. The guy that works for me is pretty damn well connected in Jennings and is a recovering addict. He has told me stories about Jennings and I seriously never knew how big of a drug problem there seems to be in Jennings, Welsh, Crowley and that whole area but mostly Jennings and Welsh. Crazy for a small town. I guess there isn't much else to do there though.

There's always been lots of Coke and crack from what I've heard. I knew people that smoked and sold (and bought) weed at school (don't know whether or not that's actually considered a 'drug problem' on the OT). One dude I knew used to play football on speed.

Possibly. But this explains why the last time I was in jennings visiting my mom, I got a coffee there on the way out and I my bench went up 50lbs by the time I got back to BR

Ah. I've been out of the loop for too long. I am pretty sure I could name exactly 1 needle user there, though that excludes steroid users. I knew lots of them.

Meth is a statewide problem though. The state wants to shut down whole parts of Beauregard Parish by Bundicks Lake because there are nothing but Meth factories in the woods out there.

Same with the small towns by the Sabine. They set up shop in the river bottom hidden in the piney woods.

There is a lot more going on than has been released...I've been in/around Jennings since 2002 and one of the 8 was my ex-wife's neice

Sorry to hear that. I know it has to be wildly unsettling to know that something like this can happen to someone so close to you in such a small community.

On a side note....

They just found another body (probably unrelated) not even 100 yards from my house here in Lake Arthur about 2-3 hours ago

Well this is one hell of a coincidence...

Body found in Lake Arthur

quote:

LAKE ARTHUR, LA (KPLC) - A body has been found in a ditch near a water tower in Lake Arthur. Authorities are on the scene, which is near the intersection of West 6th and Commercial streets. Neighbors have told KPLC that they have heard that the body is a white female.

Based on my interactions with some of the people there and in some if the LE groups, they really did/do put forth an honest effort. They didn't open up a substation on the south side of town just for show. It would actually blow your mind the amount of covert surveillance (license plate readers, cameras...) that is in place around that town.

Now that is bizarre. I presume at least someone thinks that it is a disgruntled police officer. And something tells me that person will get in front of a camera or on a forum somewhere.

I'll definitely have to keep reading about this though. So sad. It's not the time of the year that it's going to be a boating accident, if I were placing my two cents.
