good luck man

the industry environmental jobs are few and far between, mostly because they use consultants so much these days, they only need someone to manage the consultants, thus why they are looking for people with lots of experience

you need understanding of all the O&G processes

Yeah, it's getting to that point now. I'm just tired of being gone all the time & not being there for my wife & kid when they need me. I'm 32 years old, so a career change isn't totally out of the question at this point. I guess I've just been waiting for the perfect job to come along & it just hasn't happened. After being offshore again for Christmas this year & with my sons birthday coming up in a little over 2 weeks, I'm just ready to make a change & I'm willing to start at the bottom if I have to...

it would after awhile, as long as you don't get pigeon holed doing one thing

most of my experience is with risk and remediation

I interviewed last year for a position with a middle O&G company for the Env. Manager for the state of Texas. I didn't get it because I lacked the air experience.

But now I'm working as an air consultant. So give me a few more years and I should have every discipline down

Dude, I don't know how to tell you this, but the entire Oil and Gas industry got together on it, and they're blackballing you. But they said you could still get one of those "OILFIELD TRASH MAKING OILFIELD CASH" stickers, if you want one.

contact them (or another company that specializes in placing oil and gas jobs). I know they are good though! Company started by two guys out of the O&G business (former Petroleum engineers i believe, could be wrong on that)and in the last 5 years they have grown tremendously. They have made contacts with operators and inside the business and can really be of help

no i don't work for them either, i just know how helpful they are

also as an IT guy look into positions within the HSEQ departments of companies as an IMS Coordinator, possibly called SEMS coordinator now or database coordinator. Even called SEMS you would be over teh system, not the compliance of SEMS. You would be running their incident management system, report building, trending, etc. I could see an IT background being a good fit for that type of position.

Word something like that into your resume so key words are picked up on.

ok, I'll check it when I get a chance and will be getting in touch with you. Are you offshore now?

Where do you live?

from Mud Engineer I would recommend you transition to the Solids Control group. If you want to go into land work I would recommend looking into becoming a production tester.

5Alive in your case I would look on linkedin or rig zone at the Production Chemical companies. NalcoChampion, MultiChem, MI SWACO Production Technologies all have training programs.

either of you can email me at supatigah @ yahoo and I will try to help you off the board if I can
