Cubs Wrigley Renovation Update

No deal to be struck
This has gone on long enough. With the cubs new deal with Budweiser I can't imagine they have any option but to throw up a giant sign, perhaps putting a big "Blow me" sign on the back of the sign.

They need to renovate their team

That's the plan.
Video board and advertising make money, money that comes into the team for things like that (and hopefully a new tv deal soon) equals money that goes into players for the team.
THere are some weird caveats about spending from outside sources becuase of the debt structure that the team was bought under, but I really don't know or understand much of that.

Does it involve putting a statue of a young Cub mascot with his dong hanging out?

I'm so sick of these rooftop assholes.

I love how it seems to be all but accepted that they have a legitimate say and actual seat at the table in these discussions. The cubs.

It really is. The neighborhood aspect of wrigley is great, but the hurdles are becoming absurd. Hell it took 3 differnet city planning commissions (ignoring the nighborhood aldermen's posturing and town meetings) just to bump the wall out 8 feet so we could put batting cages in there that are at least to juco standards.
I don't wnat them to move, but the Rosemont Cubs is sounding more appealing every day.

If they really want to frick 'em, just build a new Wrigley elsewhere and demolish. Let them have a birds eye view of a vacant lot.

well they were part of the landmarks commissions agreement, and there supposedly is a contract that protects their 'uninterrupted sweep of the grandstands' until 2024, so yea they're legitimate parties.

Correct. It's no less fricking insane, though.

Oh I agree. If somehow they win and they get their view on day 1 of 2014, i'd build a wall so high that on one side had every ad i could generate money off and on the other a giant frick you in multi colors with a bird feeders hanging over to enoughage shitting on the sidewalk.

Kind of like their stadium

Is it bad that I don't care about this? I only care about Kris Bryant, Javy Baez, Albert Almora, Rob Zastryzny, Jorge Soler, Pierce Johnson and C. J. Edwards.

As a taxpayer in Chicago, one has to hope Mayor Emanuel talks some sense into Ald. Tunney for the good of the city.”
The Cubs were named in the lawsuit, only as “respondents in discovery.” But team officials viewed it as a shot across the bow that signals the rooftop owners’ intention to take further legal action to block two massive outfield signs needed to bankroll the project.

Wonder how lucrative the new TV deal will be. I know they were looking forward to the revenue the video board would bring. The stadium badly needs updating, player facilites and all. The red tape, and hoops to jump through with regards to the neighborhood seems to be extremely difficult

its amazing how small the cubs locker room is.
