yea, but that's more of an illusion...plus the article was more of a global view.

To me, it seems a lot easier for a large number of "poor" people to coerce government into taxing the crap out of the 85 or so rich people.

Taxation really isn't, and never was, the answer to fighting wealth consolidation. Most would gladly trade paying a little more in taxes for a market more controlled to their advantage. Meanwhile the bottom gets further isolated buts "feels" better, never knowing they're being duped.

[quote]The bottom half of the population — about 3.5 billion people — account for about $1.7 trillion
bullshite.
The 85 richest people on Earth are probably worth infinitely more than $1.7 trillion.
I would venture to say that the 85 richest people on Earth have as much wealth as about 90 percent of the rest of the world combined.
The article is just another example of the elite using the MSM to dumb down the population.

Perhaps you're not great with math. That would come out to an average net worth of 20 billion dollars. That sounds about right to me.

Umm, it'd probably be in their political agenda advantage to inflate that $1.7 trillion number.
When you are among the richest people/families in the world, you make the rules. Political agenda advantage probably isn't of great concern.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was less than that.
It is reported that The Rothschilds, for example, are worth an estimated $500 trillion. Anyone savvy enough to accumulate such wealth is probably also savvy enough to hide even more. So who knows what their actual worth is.

BTW, the Rothschilds purchased Reuters in the 1800s. Reuters then bought the Associated Press, which selects and delivers the same news stories to the entire world.
They also have controlling interest in three major television networks.

Fun fact: Before 9/11 Afghanistan and Iraq were reportedly among only seven countries left in the world whose central bank was not under Rothschild control.
After 9/11 only three remain. Iran is one. North Korea and Cuba are the other two.

Has anyone else noticed that since Obama declared Inequality as the big issue all the MSM is running with Inequality stories?

$500 trillion is an extremely conservative estimate. It's based on an assumption of only an 8% return on their holdings since 1931, when some speculate the return is near 100% per annum.

I suspect those "reporting" it actually meant Trillion with a "B". They were only 1 letter off.

Most estimates fall in the $300 – $400 billion range.

That doesn't sound nefarious enough. Let's stick with 'trillion'.
