Youve got to realize these guys are hardly realistic about their draft stock.

it seems that if anything has changed, it's either the perception of their stock or lowered expectations

There should be lower rookie wages and the required age should be moved up to 22 with an emphasis on student athletes obtaining a degree.

Amazing amount of 4 and 5 star talent on that list. Probably 40% of the list is top graded talent.

Why in the world should this be the case?

This sounds like a terrible idea...

The schools have no legal right to keep a player in school. Its the NFL that decides when a player is draft eligible and they have no incentive to change

So the DE from Louisville would still be in school right? What was his damn name, he may be 22 by now

If you look at it from a game theory perspective, then it makes sense that all of these guys are coming out. If they don't see any significant increase in expected income by staying, why stay?

This brings up an interesting scenario: if we decide to pay college athletes, will that incent them to stay, and if not at which level do they consider staying?

Was drafted #10 in 2007 and he is 26 now, drafted at 19

Think about it he enrolled at Louisville (over Harvard because he wanted to play football) at 15 and played in 13 games as a true freshman

So that website composes a list and forget three names like Kelvin Benjamin, Timmy Jernigan and Sunsieri?

I would imagine that number hits 100 come the official list on the 19th if they missed three names like that

A better look would be to see how many endbup on rosters or practice squads over the next few years.

In fairness, we have the most with 6.

Followed by USC with 5.

Bama, UF, ND, Cal and USCe all have 4 leaving early.

For what reason? And how in the world would this benefit the NFL? Or the players?

This idea literally would help no one. All of the parties involved would be worse off

I think the big difference is that with the new CBA, teams are less indebted to draft picks outside the top 15 picks which makes is a more even playing field to make the team if you are a 5-7 rounder or even UDFA.

oh i agree. i said as much earlier, just slightly different. the question is more why they didn't use to do this in the past b/c the "late round" guys (who compromise the vast majority of this list, i'd imagine) have no real advantage today than in the old CBA

ignoring the title 9 issues, colleges will not be able to pay anything comparable for these kids
