My Grandmother is German and whenever her family comes to visit they all look like sissies. I just think what they consider manly is way more girly than what we consider manly.

I've lived in Europe (Greece).

Definitely not white (although that's part of my lineage, but it's shrouded in melanin), so I guess I don't qualify as PWT

I dunno about Europe, but when the tea baggers come to DC, it makes for awesome people watching. dozens, if not hundreds of overweight middle aged people who hate the government waiting on the platform to get on the metro

Most Europeans resent it that Americans just assume all Europeans speak English and therefore, don't speak their language.

Most Europeans under 30 can communicate in English. Europeans that get offended because I don't take a stab at Hungarian or Finnish are just going to have to deal with it.

Went to holland and Germany for 10 days with a college buddy for a wedding of a friend of ours in Germany. Those Germans frickin loved us. Had a blast.

Amsterdam was fun too I think.

This. Even the gypsies know some English. Unless you get out into the countryside, you will find that most people who deal with the public on a regular basis speak a little if not very good English. I've been to 6 countries in the last couple of years and only ran into one service worker who couldn't communicate in English.

My last trip, I would have had to learn Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, and German. frick that.

I got along just fine by knowing this simple phrase: "Zwei bier, bitte"

I've been through several European countries and the common opinion is "Americans are arrogant" & my reply is "you would be too if you were this great"!

Americans are loud, fat, an dress horribly. They are obnoxious. Having spent some time in Europe, I could tell the Americans at first sight, even from a distance. They carry a lot of stuff around with them. They are generally a mess.

This thread is useless without pichers.

I've traveled very little, but I did spot this guy in Nairobi many years ago:

Nearly all the Europeans I met were very complimentary of the American people. The most abrasive were the French (who are unliked by the rest Europe anyway) but even these were a minority.

Now, most were not fans of the U.S. government.

Oh, St. Mark's is a different story...I paid $12 for a Peroni at some super classy joint, and that was indoors...

The way non-Texans view Texan braggadocio is similar to the way foreigners perceive American hubris

I spent some time over there, and it seems like they are the ones that are arrogant. I spent a few months in Sicily.

I spent a lot of time in Europe in the 80's and 90's. Had a frigging blast and except for the rude French (like New Yorkers) everyone there seemed to love Americans. The French were just so uptight, but then the Brits and Italians I knew told me 'everyone hates the French' so guess it was expected.

Spain was my favorite (women and food) with Israel and Italy being close seconds. The Israelis worshipped Americans back then, and if you are not butt-ugly, so did European women. I'm a southern boy with a southern accent and they ate it up. Act nice with a little sense of self-respect and respect for them and you will love that continent.

Now, wish I could talk my wife into going back over there. Frigging Fort Walton and Disneyworld is getting old.
