I haven't been able to find a new show I am interested in so Boom! Time for my first rewatch of the Sopranos.

I watched the initial run but I haven't rewatched any of the episodes or at least not that I remember.

Tore through about 7 episodes yesterday between football games.

I really didn't like the Pilot. Some of the acting was turrible and dear god, the person in charge of the score / soundtrack should have been fired. The first half of the episode the score was horrible and distractingly bad. Then someone must have told the guy to stop, because the score went away.

I'm not sure how much time occurred between the Pilot and the 2nd episode but some of the actors drastically improved in that time frame.

Also looks like Tony started his weight gain regimen.

I'm a tad nervous about the rewatch. Not sure I can take a marathon of Livia and dear god make it stop Janice.

I plan to rewatch the whole series unless I find a new series to distract me.

I'm about to do the same thing.

I tried a couple years ago but we bought a new house and moved and I never got back to it.

I rewatched it once 2-3 years agoand then started a second rewatch in 2013 but fell off somewhere in season 4. May get back on in S4 and go from there.

Funny because The Sopranos is one of my favorite shows of all time but I totally agree with you on how bad the pilot was. When I tell people to watch the show I always tell them they have to get past the first few episodes then settle in.

How did that work? I think I watched football from noon to midnight.

I've been wanting to rewatch it too. Maybe after the superbowl.

I thought the first couple of episodes were very strong. Everything was in place with Tony and Carm. And his mother was such a horrible, great character.
I'm about to finish the second season. I started watching the series during the third season and doubled back and caught up. I'm surprised how much I remember about the show. But Uncle Junior is a lot meaner and tougher than I originally thought (I think my initial impression was that he was comic relief -- the senile old guy -- but he actually was a hard old bastard)

Still bothers me that in Season 1 in the donut shop scene (where Christopher shoots the worker in the foot for making him wait too long in line), the customer that Christopher kicks out of the store is Vito Spatafore, who is a made guy in Tony's crew. Yet they don't even know each other???

i watched the last few seasons live and then borrowed it from a friend and started it over

it seemed like the first season was going for a black (slapstick in some places) comedy angle when i started the series

i HATED season 1

I'm watching it for the first time right now. Just finished the third episode of season 2. I'm aware of the risks in this thread for spoilers, but I'm pretty careful.

I loved season 1. In fact, I loved the pilot. Maybe it was because I wasn't sure what to expect, but I thought the opening scene was money and the set up of characters and storyline was flawless.

There are two things that bother me about the show, but I can easily get over.

#1 The acting. Even into season 2, there's some really bad acting. It's gotten better than season 1, but the therapist had some high school-worthy deliveries towards the end of season 1.

#2 Some of the events are beyond believable. Like how does Christopher shoot a guy in the foot after telling another person to leave and not be investigated by the police? Or Christopher beating the shite out of a big black guy guarding his corner?

But then I tell myself that this show is romanticized. It's a show about the Italian mafia in New Jersey told through the eyes and ears of the Italian mafia in New Jersey. Being raised in an Italian home, I know Italians glamorize and romanticize everything beyond believability, so the issues I have with the events transform from issues to perfection.

I wish they had found another way to give Tony his psychological issues. The Livia storylines were the worst part of the series.

A&E had the first run rights several years ago, and that's where I watched it. It was the censored version. Great stuff.
