There is no one from the younger group that can come close to the Murphy, Belushi, Ackroyd days.

Murphy was great.....his cast was sub par with the exception of Murray.

1. Eddie Murphy - everything he did worked. Everything. The best that's ever been on the show.
2. Phil Hartman and Dan Aykroyd - these two were very similar in that they were workmanlike in their approach and did a lot of different characters. But they were both supremely talented in everything they did. They could carry a sketch easy.
3. Dana Carvey - not the choice for many, but the guy brought so much versatility and energy to the show. You never knew what was coming when he was in a sketch.

No, I'm overseas in Mexico and SNL has a YouTube channel with most sketches not viewable in the USA. Watching the Church Lady right now. A character I was pretty much unaware of but now loving is Jimmy Fallon's Nick Burns, your company's computer guy

Phil Hartman
John Lovitz
Victoria Jackson
Dennis Miller
Kevin Nealon
Dana Carvey
Jan Hooks
A. Whitney Brown
Nora Dunn

I know it's almost heretical to say any group was better than the Belushi/Aykroyd/Curtin early days. But this group was, in my opinion. And I'm old enough to say I watched SNL from the beginning.
Disclaimer: the Hartman/Carvey/Miller years were the last I watched.

Will Ferrell
Both of them could make me laugh just by looking at them.

phil "the glue" hartman.
he was one of only a small handful who could rescue a shitty sketch by simply being in it....

People have named some amazing talents like Eddie Murphy, Bill Murray, John Belushi, etc. but I'll have to go with Phil Hartman based on longevity and his 'contributions' to the show in terms of number of sketches, characters, etc.
