I've never used strictly a GIF to describe how I feel about a terrible idea like this one, but this instance more than calls for it:

Maybe, but not because of Bynum but because it's an opportunity to dump Gordon. Gordon is like Okafor was for us. Not terrible, but way overpaid for what he gives you and he takes so much cap space you can't make any moves to get better until he's gone.

He only has 6 of his 24 mil guaranteed according to espn, so if we can move a contract ie Gordon I'd do that.

Well that's just gross.

Bill Simmons: 3 - From what I hear, Bynum wants to end up with Heat or Clips. But he'd have to be released + Cavs want to trade him

Cleveland has until Jan. 7 to decide if it will guarantee his contract for the rest of the season. Bynum signed a two-year, $24 million deal with the Cavs last summer, but the team-friendly contract included only $6 million in guaranteed money.
So, hypothetically...
Could we trade Gordon for him? And of we did, could we just cut him before 1/7? What would happen then?

I'm not sure, but that would be a good move to cut him and free up cap space.

If he won't play for Cleveland, he won't play for the Pels.

Wasn't replying to your hypothetical situation, big dawg.

Dump Gordon for Bynum and take back a young wing. I'd be interested to see if they were willing to trade Waiters as well. Regardless we could trade for Bynum, cut him, $15 million in cap space opens up this summer.

Even if you get someone else back from the Cavs, this move probably makes you worse this year, but it gives you cap space for next year. If they stay healthy Gordon won't be missed like last night.

If we trade for Bynum then release by Jan 7th. we will save 6 mill dollars. So a Gordon for Bynum trade would allow us to move Gordon's contract to a desperate team. Free up cap room this summer to sign a SF ie Chandler Parsons or Luol Deng. Still have enough money @ the trade deal line to a Larry Sanders trade.
