What say you?

you just drinking it straight? Is there a price range?

Best depends on a host of variables, but my go to tequila is el Jimador Reposado. Excellent tequila for the price point.

I'm a big fan of Don Julio Anejo. Not outrageously priced either. Of course, there are some aged tequilas that are awesome but you will pay for it. DJA is a great everyday tequila.

This is my favorite as well of the ones that I have had. Don Julio 1942 is supposedly really good--I've just never had it

Herradura silver is my personal go-to.

Nothing premium as far as price goes, looking for one I can drink straight or mix

Very subjective to the palate of each person along with what tequila people have had the privilege to taste.
Went to a private tequila tasting in Cabo last year with a wedding party, and some of the tequila they had in there was super smooth. I don't remember the name of it, only the price -- $5,000 for a bottle. They were saying there are over 500 makers of premium tequila, most of which are not sold in the US. That said, not sure you will truly get the real answer in this thread.

Don Julio 70th anniversary Claro Anejo is very nice. Still crisp like a blanco with a smoothness only achieved through oak aging.

For a reasonable price for just mixing Margaritas around the house I use Sauza Hornitos. I don't like Jose Cuervo even though he is a friend of mine.

Don Julio 1942 or Don Julio Real. About the best 2 you are going to find in the states.

Espolon... it is amazing for the price and has a badass label

If you are looking for something you can enjoy sipping but isn't so nice that you would die if you mixed it with something, just go to your local shop and grab a few of the cheapest 100% Agave tequilas you see. Give them a go. If it isn't 100% agave, it isn't worth drinking.

This should be rule 1, 2 & 3 of tequila drinking...

You can get a decent bottle of 100% agave pretty reasonable. I drank some high quality stuff with a friend from Mexico one at his sisters house and fricked up. She put in a shot glass and some other stuff in another shot glass. I was sopposed to take a sip of each and then again. Well I shot it and she got pissed.

I had some patron gran burdeos, it was good but not worth the 75 dollars a shot.

I stumbled on Blue Head a few years ago and like it a lot.
