I'm confused.
Are we voting on who we WANT to talk the job, or who WILL get hired?
This bracket thing is a brilliant illustration of the clown show comedy hour the "coaching search" has been. As another poster on another site stated, this search is more about proving to the world that the sip HC job is the best in the world and getting the biggest name possible, than it is about getting the right guy for the job.
agree with every thing said here

Was just more a generalization of the 1-3 run the last four bowls.
Posted on 12/19/13 at 1:59 pm to longhorn22
I'd love for it to be any of the 7 seeds

I say we just vote Mack Brown back in as HC and be done with it. That would kill two birds with one stone. Get Texas their next HC and piss off their fanbase at one fell swoop.

Saban is a number 1 seed, I'm shocked

Stupid comment. LSU beat TAMU in 2010 Cotton Bowl and also have won 5 of last 8 bowl games.

They wouldn't have forced Mack out if A&M had struggled in the SEC like everybody thought we would. They believe that making a splash hire will protect their brand from A&M or get some traction and slow A&M's momentum. 53 million viewers v. 15 million is a HUGE hit to the Bevo Ego. They believe that it's a huge problem for their future that can only be fixed by one-upping A&M in the public eye. Hire a HUGE coach and it will stop the bleeding. They have to show the world that they are the bad-assest bad-asses that can hire GOD as their HC. Won't fix the real problem.
Their need to be the undisputed top dog in the State and in the Big 12 at the expense of everyone else is what got them in this mess to begin with. They wanted to weaken everyone else and tilt the table and perpetuate public perception to protect those t-shirt sales. They wanted the LHN to further distance themselves in the public perception that they have the biggest penis.
A&M's move to the SEC would not have occurred had the longhorns been able to admit that A&M is a valuable partner. They simple do not have the business savvy to understand that conference mates are partners. When the brands of their conference mates suffer, their brand suffers. Had they understood this concept, they would not have acted in a way to promote themselves at the expense of conference mates, causing 4 teams to leave.
So, they will try to get the big splash hire. They may get Tomlin from the Steelers or some othe HUGE name. It will probably be a huge media bombshell. Won't matter. Until they understand the cause of their brand's suffering, they will not get the problem fix. Splash coaching hires give them a "bump," in the short term, but really do nothing to promote the brand if every other brand in the Big Twatever sucks. That means they have to humble themselves. Fat chance.
Their egos will not allow them to accept that truth, even when doing so is OBVIOUS to their best interests. They couldn't do it when A&M was trying to join the SEC. They had to shoot down A&M as being a valueless commodity. They even said that U of H would be an equal replacement for A&M, which gave A&M all the ammo needed to leave without causing any "damages" to the conference, because equally valuable replacements were available to mitigate damages. Egos won over strategies.
So, this hire will really do nothing to fix the real problem. They will continue to push the Big Twatever around and diminish the other brands therein, which will result in further destruction of the overall Big Twatever brand until it ultimately implodes. Then, they will move on to the NEXT conference....rinse, repeat.
Glad to be done with those jackasses.

They've proven they're not smart businessmen by letting A&M go to the SEC.

There is sooo much fail in your posts it's not even funny. If you are soooo glad to be done with us quote assholes, then why make a page long response about us? Not only that, but in a joking thread about the Texas head coaching search. I'm sure SI wasn't being serious about it. Jesus. I can only imagine the rage you get if you even see burnt orange.

Shhh it's gonna be ok man. Rest.

We effectively destroyed your program. No wonder Sooner is white-knighting for horn. Id be fricking furious at Texas A&M if I was them.

I would put Saban, O'Brien, Kelley, and Shaw in that Final Four.
