If it comes to fruition, Chicken better load up on server power or TD will implode.

Nick Saban wised up and decided to put his legacy over the extra money. Texas was in talks with his agent and did put up a starting offer of 8 million, I know this for a fact. Congratulations Bama fans.

What an amazingly well-sourced piece. It's incredible how many big time figures the author got to go on the record.

Texas is close
Just a little bit longer, and Texas will be humbled enough like many in Bama Nation were during the dark years. A little humble pie never killed anyone. This especially needs to happen with the meddling Texas boosters. Bama was ate up with all that for years, and Bama was lost in the woods.

I'm sorry that I have a life outside of posting every little opinion that I have on an online message board. I guess if I did in fact devote such a similar amount of time on here as you that I would certainly qualify as an "insider" with valueable information.

There is nothing plausible about this:

quote:

- Ensure that Mack Brown was on board with the move

- Pay 2X the salary he made at Alabama

- Give him an unlimited payroll budget for assistant coaches

- Offer a 10-year guaranteed contract, whether he retired or not.

Texas was prepared to meet these conditions, setting up the biggest coaching coup in college football history.

So dumb. "Sure, we're guarantee you one hundred million dollars, even if yo retire after one year!"

I don't doubt Sabans agent talked to Texas and was leveraging for a raise. Saban may have even been interested in going, especially if the part about the Alabama booster mouthing off to him is true. This little tidbit from a recruit makes me feel Saban had made his mind up by last Tuesday.

quote:

"Coach Cristobal came here on Monday. My parents asked him if Coach Saban was going to leave. He wanted to be honest with us. He said he wasn't sure. He then let me know on Tuesday that Coach Saban was staying at Alabama.

After all Saban said in his interview on Saturday, I just don't see him going. Despite his past.

Would be awesome if true. It's amazing that that Ft. Worth Star Telegram guy broke that it was a done deal. I wonder who his source was that made him make such a bold statement?

Who knows, but my guess is source was another Red McCombs type booster that thinks he can buy whatever he wants. Texas people aren't accustomed to not getting what they want. Just look at their coaching wish list. Saban, Harbaugh, Tomlin, Fisher, Malzhan...... not one of those is an easy get and they'll probably strike out on all of them.
