Bottom line and ugly truth -- these Saints are soft

They are 3-4 on the road after this debacle. Versus the Rams and Seahawks in particular, early turnovers led to easy points for the road team. Payton and Brees, who are cutesy already with play calling and touch throws, get even more cutesy. The defense gets on his heels, and it's downhill from there.
To make matters worse, they don't show anything against tendency. Defenses tee off on the OL, which has played somewhat better of late. But for whatever reason they stubbornly refuse to establish the run before the pass.
Recent history does not bode well for them retaining the division lead and home field advantage next week -- on the road against the Panthers.

Agree for the most part. All you have to do is pop the saints in the mouth and theyll quit.

Solid post.
This annoys me to no end. I think it has a lot to do with the offensive line play but there has been no improvement or even attempt to improve. I don't think Ingram has had 30 carries since the Dallas game. He gave a spark and I'd like to see him get more carries.

well we beat the bears at soldier field when they were at full strength pretty easily.
and we were jobbed so hard all game long vs the patriots and that should have been ours.
but yes the road hasn't been kind.. we can still win this one tho.

We are simply a different team on the road IMO. Vastly different, and it's hard to comprehend. This game, at Seattle, at New York, and at New England, we've maybe had 2 or 3 competent quarters. Our offense looks that of Jacksonville on the road. It's pitiful, and I really don't know how to explain it.

We win and lose as a team though, all 3 phases today

They get away with it it because our o-line is just not good at all. If anything, they're average. It needs to be addressed in the offseason.

To be fair, the screen passes is merely an extension of the running game and it still works for them.

On the road?
Fo sho.
They are still capable of blowing teams out at home.

IMHO, the Saints are a finesse team that is a bit soft because they don't play power football. Terrible road team.
The window is closing.

Even if we win and make the playoffs, I don't think we can beat the Seahawks anywhere.

Softness has nothing to do with how they play at home. In a controlled, friendly environment, with crowd noise helping the D, the Saints usually are dominant.
The true test of a team's mettle is in adverse circumstances on the road. And that is where they will end up in the playoffs at this rate.

Yep, season is going to come down to Carolina. It'll be an excellent preview of what the saints are capable of.
If they lose there in the same fashion or anywhere close to it, it's going to crush the team's mental psyche.
