Les Miles Winning Percentage at LSU

Some wins/numbers to look forward to:
1. If Miles wins the Outback Bowl and the first game of the 2014 season, he is back at 80% win percentage at LSU.
2. If Les wins the Outback Bowl and then goes 13-0 next season, he will break into the elite List of college football coaches with a .750 winning percentage. Not even Nick Saban has a 0.75 career win percentage as head coach.
Everyone thinks the grass is always greener on the other side. Many LSU fans don't realize what a good run we have had with Miles and probably won't until he is long gone. Seriously, Miles has been among the Top 3-5 coaches in the country during his time at LSU. If not for having to play a Saban coached Bama team every year, we'd have one or two more SEC championships, maybe even a Natty. Even without those, Miles' tenure has been nothing short of fabulous. I can think of at least 100-110 other programs in the country that would love to have been in our position the past 8 1/2 years or so.

Those who want to fire Les are the same idiots who day trade with their retirement portfolio.
And I agree with the grass is greener on other side analogy. You don't appreciate what you have until it's gone.

I agree, Miles is a very good coach. I just feel like people are frustrated because LSU has the talent and coaches yet we always have 2-3 games per year that should be for sure wins that end up being nail biters. Just frustrating because we have the talent but sometime we don't get the results we would like the see yet knowing what we are really capable of. Overall, Miles wins and that's all that it comes down to

What bothers me is that people fail to understand....its not just Alabama and Saban.
First think about Miles' winning percentage. Remember these are not the Bear Bryant Alabama days or the Steve Spurrier days. In the modern era, with the most powerful conference in the history of college football, no one has done over the length of time than Miles. Saban in a shorter period has done more. And that's about it. Winning 80 percent of your games in the SEC in this time period is so much more than just the talent you recruit.
And think about this for a second. What might have been a couple other years.
Florida won their 2 NCs at our expense. Had we beaten Chris Leak and company in 2006 we would have gone to the NC game. We won in 2007.
Auburn won a NC at our expense a couple years ago. One Cam Newton rush away there in 2010.
Alabama got voted a rematch in 2011. They made the most of it, and lucked out.
If we get ONE first down in 2012 against Bama, in all likleyhood, we are playing Notre Dame, not them, and no one is even talking about Saban and Bama.
These three teams, coupled with LSU, make up 8 of the last 10 National Champions. In short LSU is a whisker away from playing in SIX National Championships in 9 years under Miles.
And we play all three of these teams every year.
With Auburn and Florida, their success was marred with inconsistant years and coaching changes. Their programs suffered WAYYY more than we did under the stability of Miles. Bama is the lone exception.
Many of you have no idea who good its been.

Take out all the Furmans and Kent Sts from his career and tell me what you have please. This isn't accurate

I see your point. It sucks that LSU is the only team ever to play teams that were "rent-a-wins". That is obviously the only reason Miles has a lot of wins.

Couldn't be more accurate!
Teams take on the persona of there coach. Miles is laid back and only really gets fired up for monstrous challenges ie big games. That's the reason to play good in big games and like crap the other 9 games a year.
Miles gets fat and likes to sit on the couch a lot type guy

I have awful news for some who claim to be LSU fans: as long as Les Miles is at LSU, these threads won't stop, and Les will continue to provide evidence to back them up.

So be honest...you think LSU should absolutely dominate every game they play in and win every single game by double digits? Do you think it is reasonable to be frustrated because we have some "nail biters" each season that we typically end up winning?

BBJ, my advice to you there is to take all the Georgia Southerns, UT- Chats from everybody elses schedule (Bama, Florida, Auburn) as well.
See what you come up with.
This is very accurate, and your response is a total indication that you have no clue.

BBJ won't. He will then not only have to admit the other teams do it more than LSU, he'll also have to admit things like Saban lost to ULM, Florida lost to Georgia Southern, and so on and so forth
What a joke.
What a joke.

I can think of a few big games this yr where Miles and the team weren't fired up and played like shite. Ole Piss game, no reason what so ever that we should have been in the position to lose that game. Bama Game, fricking gave up in the 2nd half like a bunch of pussies! Championship game in 2011, They still haven't got off the bus yet for that game. Miles struggles with getting his team up for any game period! They lack leadership IMO!
