Don’t be surprised if Arkansas State requests to interview LSU running backs coach / recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson. He and Freeze worked together at Ole Miss under Ed Orgeron, and Wilson interviewed for the Ole Miss head job when it went to Freeze, who then tried to hire Wilson as the offensive coordinator.

I didn't wanna mention his name in the Arky State thread as a possible replacement, because I didn't wanna jinx it.

Worst part if the off season

Pay him whatever it takes to stay, especially with this recruiting class

That would go against their m.o.

Their last 3 coaches were either already an hc or were coordinators. They haven't gone the recruiter route, and they've been fine. Why change it up?

If/When Les gets to the point that he sees an end game for himself in coaching, I hope that the wheels are put into motion to give Wilson enough time to get his feet wet coaching somewhere for a couple of years before he comes home to take over.

It's like Saban except on a much smaller scale

Because they feel he could bring stability

It's a huge gamble, but if they can get him, and he actually does good, and keep him for 4-5 years..it's a huge win

He's worth every penny.

What was the previous Arky State coach making? I know Frank already makes more than some head coaches in his role at LSU.

They need to be happy that they've made themselves the premier steppng stone in cfb and not worry about stability.

Embrace the role of hc incubator. Jonesboro ark, the new cradle of coaches.

It depends on what his career plans are. If Frank wants to be a head coach he's going to either jump at an opening at a lower D1 - doesn't have to be this opening - or transition from "ace recruiter" into an OC role. He's in a tight spot career wise because any move to OC would likely cost him money at least in the short term.

Why is this LOL worthy? It's a head coaching job and seems like all the head coaches at AR State move on to bigger/better things.

Frank is the shite. I'd hate to see him leave, but it's hard for most D-I programs to ignore his talents. He will eventually be offered a big job for big money that Alleva won't be willing to match.
