Maybe you can define win convincingly for us.
In 9 years at LSU, Mile's has lost by 10 or more points only 8 times, that's in 118 games, playing in
in the toughest conference that has produced the last 7 national champions, all of which LSU has faced.
Only 1 year has it happened more than once, and that was the 2008 debacle, where it happened 3 times.
3 times it has happened against the eventual NCAA national champion. In the 5 seasons since 2008 it's happened
only 3 times, and it was against the #1, #2 and #1 ranked teams.
Compare this with Iowa, who has 10 such losses in the last 3 seasons alone, including 3 this year.
You'll be happy to beat LSU...you'll not win convincingly.
I consider convincingly winning by two possessions or more.
When (If) we do win by this amount, let the Mettenberger excuses flow.
BTW, four years ago we were undefeated and ranked #3 in the nation before we lost our starting QB. We went on to finish 11-2 and won the Orange Bowl. Injuries happen and are part of the game. I hope you guys can understand that much.
If you can't, then I would assume we really would have kicked your arse in the last Cap One Bowl with any of our first, second or third string RBs playing, instead of injured for most of the season. Thank God we got our fourth stringer back for that game.

You seriously think Iowa is going to win by more than 2 possessions? Holy shite. Iowa may win, but wow, if you think Iowa is winning by 2 scores you a delusional homer. No excuses. Jennings will be ready to play.

Here are the teams Iowa has beaten by two or more scores this season.
Minnesota, Western Michigan, Purdue, Nebraska.
Teams to beat lsu by more than one score: Alabama
Teams lsu has beaten by more than one score: TCU, UAB, kent state, Furman, Miss St, Florida, Texas Am, Auburn,
How on earth do you get "Iowa wins convincingly" using anything but pure homerism?

reading comprehension seems to be a issue here. Must be those Louisiana schools.
the guy said IF. to make another point.... But yall mised that.

No he said they "could very well win convincingly". Using that turn of phrase implies he thinks theres a decent chance of that happening. Based on evidence provided by numerous LSU fans in this thread, the likelihood of Iowa winning convincingly is very very low. Is it impossible? Of course not. It's just by far the least likely outcome

So, you've lowered the bar now to 9 points. I can go back and do the numbers for you but I promise you there won't be a big difference(I set the bar at 10). Reality is...it's a rare, rare feat to beat LSU convincingly, a feat usually reserved for national championship caliber teams.
Iowa this past year alone has the same number of double digit losses that LSU has in the past 5 years.
You keep trotting up the Mettenberger 'excuses' which to me, makes it only more transparent that Mettenberger's injury is what gives you real hope that Iowa can beat a team the caliber of LSU.
LSU is favored by 8 with a true freshman quarterback at the helm. It would probably be a 14 point spread if Mettenberger were playing.
The odds are still high in LSU's favor because Jennings isn't your run of the mill freshman:
1)He's been operating as the #2 the entire season and has actually seen game action even before Mettenberger's injury.
2)Was an early enrollee, who has been with the team since January, competed in the spring game and has had the playbook for nearly a year.
3)He'll have had more than 4 weeks to prepare with Cam Cameron as the starter, and get a feel for Beckham and Landry(two guys who should get open at will on Iowa).
4)He brings a completely different element to the offense due to his mobility, which is polar opposite from all the film Iowa has on the pocket passer Mettenberger.
5)Jenning's plays on the much more talented team. LSU has more potential NFL talent on hand than Iowa and that's not up for debate.
6)AJ is a talented, talented player, you are very likely the first to face LSU's 2014 starting quarterback. He's been impressing coaches and teammates since day 1.
I think the big shock for Iowa fans will be for any of them who have this notion they have some huge advantage in the trenches.

No, it's just an obvious out for you guys if the unthinkable were to happen.
I don't care how we get the win, but I definitely would rather Iowa wins with the Tigers at full strength.
It would be more impressive.

Couldn't two possessions just be six points?
And yeah, if we lose it'll be bc our senior QB is gone. If we win them y'all suck for losing to a freshman QB.
Although our run defense is so shitty that it'll probably be the real culprit if we lose.

Wow.
It's statements like this that give me even more confidence that Iowa will win.

Iowa Confidence: 98% Mettenberger's ACL. 2% statements like this.

No, it kind of doesn't. The SEC is top dog, and has been for this decade. Frankly, the only other conference that comes close talent wise this decade has been the PAC 12, but now that USC is down and after Chip Kelly left, even they are weak this year.
For chrissakes, quit leaning on your conference to somehow show how great you are. The SEC had eight teams with a .500 or worse conference record this season.
I get tired of hearing the same garbage every time Iowa plays an SEC team. It's talent, it's speed, it's the SEC. Blah, blah, blah. The last four times Iowa played an SEC team in bowls in your own backyards, they curbstomped South Carolina, won a close one against LSU, lost a close game against Florida, and whipped another Florida team, badly.
Bring something to the table besides your conference, please, because Iowa isn't playing the SEC All-Stars.

+1...tired of hearing about the all mighty SEC. Haven't proved how mighty you are to us yet. Let me guess, this time around is different? Heard it before....get over yourself. "OMG like Football is like life down here in the south, omg, i'm going to go masturbate to the SEC logo tonight then get on the message boards and talk shite,"
