Then why are you talking about shite that is decades old. Comparing the Iowa zone scheme to Denver...completely irrelevant spew.

quote:

rest of the season really doesn't mean much now, does it?

It hasn't meant shite to us since we lost to Ole Miss. Has been refreshing having zero expectations though. I could go on and on talking about our NFL prospects and telling you that we are going to be really really good.(much like what Iowa fans are doing) but in reality we have three losses, and we are playing a freshman QB. shite ship sailed long ago. Now we get Iowa, who will jump around like it is some kind of goddamn National Championship game, played in Tampa at like 11 in the morning with no one watching.

I was excited to play LSU, actually outside of Iowa LSU is my favorite school. Grandma lived in La Place, Louisiana. I have been to several LSU baseball games. You guy's have some funny arse hecklers! I believe you guys will beat us, but I don't think it will be a blowout like most of you think. No the B1G does not have a good record with the SEC recently, but, Kirk Ferentz does. He is one of the best at preparing his teams for bowl games. We have a slow boring offense ill admit, but they do the little things right. Our O-line is physical and strong. If we get some good pushes up front, and use our tight ends effectively I think we can beat you guys. Got 3 real solid LB's all future NFL players. All were on the Butkus watch list, and only school in the nation to have all 3 LB's on that list. The one BIG problem with you guys; You are fast as shite, and we are slow as shite, So that is where I think you guys win the game. No clue how our qb will do under this pressure, we have never seen him in a bowl.He is kind of streaky!Smart kid though. But all in all i'm pumped about the game! Good luck fellas hope to get super trashed with some of you January 1st.

P.s. Wanna wrestle...

We lost 3 games, no bitching we should have never lost to Ole Miss and it cost us a better bowl. That being said, a New Year's Day bowl against a Big Ten team that beat us 10 years ago in a crazy, gripping (pun intended) finish. Hell, what's not to like and I get to see next year's QB. I'll take it.

"New Years Day bowl" - that doesn't mean much anymore.

That term was important 25+ years ago when the big four bowls (Rose, Sugar, Orange, Cotton) were all on New Years Day. Now there are a bunch of bowls on Jan 1 or later, and some of them are meaningless (how about that stellar Heart of Dallas Bowl on Jan. 1 - UNLV vs. North Texas). So it doesn't really mean much, in my opinion.

This is a mediocre bowl and I'm not excited at all. I have a feeling our players aren't either and we'll come out flat against Iowa.

Sure hope you do. I'd love to see the Hawkeyes kick some Tiger arse in Tampa. Will be a good springboard game into next year when we make a run for the Roses.

No, it kind of doesn't. The SEC is top dog, and has been for this decade. Frankly, the only other conference that comes close talent wise this decade has been the PAC 12, but now that USC is down and after Chip Kelly left, even they are weak this year.

To compare Iowa's defense to Bama's defense because they have similar stats is like saying FSU's offense is similar to Denver's offense because they have similar stats. It's a truly stupid statement.

Like hit dural on the streak streaky?

I'm confused. How can you be streaky when you've only taken about 20 snaps in your career.

You seem like a nice guy and pretty objective poster; however, Iowa can not win IF LSU plays their A+ game. Iowa can win yes, but not if we bring our best game.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

...and the excuses begin. I figured not having your starting QB would be enough, but obviously if Iowa wins then LSU certainly couldn't have played their best game, right?

Let's get one thing straight. Both teams will play their best and both will want to win. Iowa hasn't played a complete game all year and still finished 8-4. I'm still waiting for them to put it all together. I like our chances in this game, even with both teams playing their best.

The semantics in the quotes above is what confuses some. Paraphrasing, it was noted in OP that ...... If LSU plays their absolute best (A+ game), that Iowa could still beat them convincingly.

I take that to mean that if LSU replicates their best possible game played (AKA like they played against A&M (both sides the ball), Auburn (1st half) or like they played offensively against Georgia...that the Hawkeyes can still beat us convicingly.

I don't believe that. But without doubt, they can beat us. However, if LSU shows up and plays average, LSU should still win. Below average like Ole Miss or Arkansas, the game is a toss up.

Thanks

Hmm..streaky, meaning he plays really good sometimes and other times he looks really bad? 20 snaps?

I'm sorry, but there's not a team in the country that could take LSU's "best shot" and win "convincingly"

You don't know that for sure. There are bad matchups that some teams, no matter how good, just can't overcome.

Sorry, I read his post as saying that our true freshman qb was streaky.

Brew Hawk I think what you are describing above is a Championship team, one that can find the adjustment (Coaching) and has the Talent (team members) to win. And those teams do not have a team they cannot overcome or adjust to.

Fortunately for Iowa, a 3-loss LSU team is not that team.

You guys are a bunch of megalomaniacs in the midst of an average season.

A three loss season in the sec is a better season than Iowa has had in like 20 years.

We can talk all we want about who is better, but we wont actually know until the 1st. There is NO way of comparing the teams because they are so different. Iowa did lose to a bad Northern Illinois team but that is irrelevant to me, we are a completely different team. Isn't it weird that every team we have played their coach voted us in the top 25? Iowa is a team that nobody likes to lose to because they are not overpowering with speed and they are not flashy. But they get the job done, these Midwest blue collar farm boys might surprise you. They are very fundamentally sound.

Every time we play an SEC team we hear this same shite, have never impressed me when we have played. Its all about recruiting, no southern boy wants to come play in the cold. So you can talk about how mighty the SEC is but if you look at recruiting and who we get, we do damn well for what we get.

Maybe you can define win convincingly for us.

In 9 years at LSU, Mile's has lost by 10 or more points only 8 times, that's in 118 games, playing in
in the toughest conference that has produced the last 7 national champions, all of which LSU has faced.

Only 1 year has it happened more than once, and that was the 2008 debacle, where it happened 3 times.
3 times it has happened against the eventual NCAA national champion. In the 5 seasons since 2008 it's happened
only 3 times, and it was against the #1, #2 and #1 ranked teams.

Compare this with Iowa, who has 10 such losses in the last 3 seasons alone, including 3 this year.

You'll be happy to beat LSU...you'll not win convincingly.

Just cause one Iowa fan said this, doesn't mean the fan base believes that. If Iowa wins it will be by a very slim margin, and that is still a big if.
