So consistent mediocrity over a national title shot.

Ok.

Plus a program that went from NO SEC wins to the TOP of the SEC with a 1st year head coach.
Sounds like a pretty bright future - Malzahn comes in and knocks Saban off the top of the pedestal in his 1st shot.
We seem stuck in a mode of inconsistent up and down performances with 2 to 4 losses a year. Very good overall seasons, especially with the extreme competition.
However, playing in , let alone winning the future playoffs does not seem in the immediate future.

10-3, 9-4, three straight bowl losses is mediocre

I'd trade the last 2 years of lsu football for what those folks have gotten to enjoy the last four weeks.

Throw in skybar as a kicker if you don't mind

BCS title game is always ultimate but I prefer to be in the hunt every season. Aub. Was last place last season. That would have been tough to get through. Then again.....

Stupid question.Trade. We weren't in the hunt either year

I would rather get 9-10 wins and hang moral victory banners.

This is not to downgrade what Malzahn has accomplished at all this year; going from no wins in the SEC to slaying the giant, winning the SEC, and playing for a BCS championship in his first year coaching. He is without a doubt the coach of the year. However, it is JUST ONE YEAR. Let's see if the Gus Bus can maintain this kind of success year-in and year-out.

He's already got an NCG as OC for the very same team, and just a few years ago. I wouldn't expect Auburn to win the SEC every year or anything, but it's not like Malzahn is the unknown quantity in the SEC or at Auburn.

Definitely trade. I will take down years mixed in with incredible years every time over continuous years of 2-3 losses.
Auburn has had one of the most exciting seasons in sports history this year.

We had one of the greatest regular seasons in CFB history in 2011 and came up short. Auburn still may not even win the championship which would make an absolutely terrible season even tougher to get through.

I'm sure there are a lot of "fans" that would absolutely love to see our NC winning head coach have a terrible season and get fired just like the Chizzinator so that we could hire Gus Malzahn and win the NC the following year.

Personally, I'd rather keep Les because that way we won't have a shite storm of a season and go 3-9 (0-8). And with our current coaching staff we are just as likely to end up in the the NCG as any other team IMO

A season in which you get shut out in the national championship cannot be one of the greatest in CFB history.

Very interesting hypothetical. Auburn proved that you have to get some breaks along the way to get to the NC. Yes I think I'd trade places to be in The Game this year. The losing season only makes for a much better story for this years run. 10 yrs from now nobody will remember the losing season but they will remember the big game.
