Some of y'all listening to snake-tongued tsips tell you that Jesus fricking Shuttlesworth is a legit source? Good lord.
He's an equally annoying, slightly less homer, but also less credible version of Billy Liucci IMO.

No offense, Chicken.
Most likely offer will go to Malzahn, IMO.

"what a lot of football fans, esp. non alums don't understand is that a lot of the university leaders, faculty and admin and even trustees really don't give much of a shite about football. sure they hope their school wins but certainly care far more about the academic reputation of the university ON A NATIONAL SCALE. imo, the university of texas will not outbid for saban. I would like to see them frick bama boosters up with a run at it tho."
I agree with your assessment about the opinion of the faculty. What the faculty doesn't understand is that I as an alumni don't give a shite about the English department or for that matter most of the academics at the school. What I do enjoy is coming to Austin on occasion and watching football. When the team does well, I am more likely to donate money.
Texas just finished a $3 Billion endowment. One of the things that became clear to everyone involved is the correlation between sport success and fund raising.
I am sure one of the Aggies on the thread could respond to this but I am not sure that they could have pulled off the new stadium without the on field success they have had.
Alabama should prepare themselves for a gunfight over Saban.

So....purely rumors so I wouldn't start a thread but I'm hearing Bama players may have had a mandatory meeting tonight?
and the football brainiacs are reporting Saban to Texas is a done deal
no idea who they are but...chicken, get ready for chaos of that link being posted and/or if it happens, the utter meltdowns tonight

You think they are announcing days before Texas plays for a share of the conference title?

especially under the circumstances he's in now.

Stay optimistic. Gus won't leave after a year.

From Shaggybevo:

Serious question: If Alabama fans are crazy enough to poison a tree after losing to Auburn, how will they react to Texas stealing away their pride and joy head coach?

They will cut Bevo's head off and put it in Steve Patterson's bed.

Take this for what it's worth - from what I've heard - it's time for a change. No matter what happens - UT loses game or wins Big 12 - it's time for a change in Austin. If Mack wins Big 12 - he gets to resign and go out on top. However, Mack is resigning no matter what. He's been doing this for a long time - and he did well for UT. Their top target is obvious. Not that the people I was talking with are big time alums - but supposedly they have heard from other alums as well.

Whatever they do will be big they are desperate to change the fact that they are now not the de facto number 1 in Texas. So look for some ridiculous offers to a big time coach.

Tomlin would be a grand slam home run hire for UT

I'm of the opinion that smoke = fire in regards to Texas throwing out gaudy, record-breaking figures to try to lure a big-name target.
