no. they are technically sound. They just need to come along physically a bit more to be a very good o-line. It's coming around, just need to keep up recruiting those types (falling a little short this recruiting season it seems).

I think I will go for the highest paid offensive lineman to play in the NFL.I trust his honest assessment.A former LSU offensive lineman posted on the rant that when he was at LSU, Studrawa cut out their routine of working on technique because Studrawa thought it was a waste of time.He stated that an offensive lineman cannot improve unless he works on being fundamentally sound in his techniques as a lineman. He also stated that Studrawa played favorites and that Lonergon should have been starting over T-Bob Hebert who was the starting center at the time.Eventually, Lonergon did replace T-Bob as the starting center.

I think Hawkins's pass-blocking is fine, and I don't worry about that at all. He does need to get stronger for our running game, IMO.
I concur. Remember that Alexander was moved to LG because Hawkins beat him out for RT. Hawkins is very athletic and good with his feet. He's also kinda raw and I'm excited to see his development over the offseason. He has all the intangibles though. Hawkins to LT is a legit idea.

Though his run on sentence was hard to decipher, I think he was trying to convey that Mawae didn't care if he was offending Stud; he still was of the opinion that the O-line technique was sloppy.

We'll never get a new one. We all know how Miles is to his guys.....crazy arse loyal and he feels like he's one of the OLine coaches himself.

As for Stud:
- don't know if it's scheming or players, but LSU has hell with stunts/twists. Clemson last year and a couple of teams this year showed that.
- can tell picking up blitzes, including the RBs, in the middle has some problems. Was always taught block down if in doubt. LSU doesn't do this for some reason. Bama ate us up here.
- blocking play calling has some communication issues, including snap counts. not sure who's fault this is, but the OL has a lot of false starts due to this (it's not just twitching or moving early, you can tell many are bad communication)

It's because he's a fricking terrible coach, that's why.

What about Fehoko Fanaika? I watched him in the Big Cat Drill, and he absolutely destroyed someone. Can he not pass block?

That is because three is a charm and STUD is a complete DUD and should have been let go when Crowton left.

Mawae would be a homerun hire for LSU if it were to ever happen. Universally respected on and off the field in the NFL. A guy with average NFL talent who was just fundamentally and mentally ahead of just about everyone he ever matched up with.
That's what I've been saying on here for awhile now. I want what's best for LSU. It's just business.

Hmmm, seems like that was you that posted this...there have been plenty of videos showing the o-line working on technique.

once he learned how to successfully execute a shotgun snap he became the starter.

Eh we got 2 of 3 top olinemen in state. Neither would start for us next year anyway. I'm thinking Collins stays and we start the same line we started this year.

Hard to believe he made that statement, even if tru. He does work with/for the team doesn't he? If so, that would be an in house matter to deal with. Not in a public forum.

not airing your dirty laundry in public isn't really a part of political correctness

...exactly what I thought. Kevin is far too sharp to say something so inflammatory.

I expect in the spring and fall camp that the o-line will change every couple days of practice with competition at each spot and several players moving around at different positions. My guess at the starting o-line though would be:

LT: Pocic
LG: Alexander
C: Porter
RG: Turner
RT: Hawkins

I do think the o-line will be a strength of the team next year.
