And sends them to a better bowl over us, how would you react? I know there's little recourse but how should LSU express it's displeasure? I have a strong feeling it will happen again.

It doesn't help we have already played in Atlanta and Dallas so many times over the past 5-10 years.

i would be pissed, but there's nothing we can do unfortunately. I am thinking Capitol One Bowl for us. I'd like to spank Nebraska in it, Michigan State just doesn't entice me

The SEC has no incentive to send Aggie to any particular bowl this year. The Cotton Bowl may lust after JFF versus Baylor or UT, of course.

Considering the payouts being relatively even, I think LSU would take any of the three Florida bowls this year to avoid ATL.

Only reason a FL game would be nice is because I could make it. I hope the Tiger fans show up to wherever we go!

I don't see it happening.

In a hypothetical sense say it were to happen, I'd be really ticked off.

But realistically, I can't see it happening.

Tiger fans don't show up to Tiger Stadium. Don't expect a massive turn out at any bowl.

LSU fans would be excited about:

Cotton Bowl versus Texas or OU

Gator Bowl versus Michigan (to finally play them)

Outback Bowl period (to finally go back to Tampa)

Chicken Bowl vs Duke (REVENGE FOR SHAQ!)*

Assuming Mizzou takes care of business next week, as I think they will, I don't see anyone picking an 8-4 Aggie team on a two game losing streak over an LSU team on a roll.

Didn't we take care of this in 06?

You might be surprised. This game did a lot to dispel the funk that Tiger fans have been in since late last season.

The Cotton makes the most sense but the SEC will do what's best for the state of Alabama and for money. If screwing LSU achieves these priorities...then you can bet it will occur.

I would love to see LSU remove the SEC logos from the field. We (along with 11 other member institutions) need to start making some noise about the SEC HQ Gumps and their biased practices.

The Outhouse Bowl has screwed us before so I don't want to go there. I've been to the Chick-fil-A three times and really don't want to return to Atlanta. The Cap One has a much better field than when we played Penn State but the stadium and surrounding area are still pretty bad.

At least we won't have to play in Birmingham. Can you imagine being excited about playing in a bowl game only to have your bubble burst when you realize it's in Birmingham? eek!

The payouts have absolutely no bearing on the analysis. All the money goes to the SEC and is split evenly between all member schools.

most of those "selections" have to do with potential tv ratings. NOT asses in seats. if jff is still in the heisman talks, then i promise you a&m gets the "nod" over LSU for any bowl. i know it is surprising, but $$ drives this whole bowl selection thing.

i dont care which bowl the Tigers wind up in. Just Win Baby.

You think the SEC decides who goes to each bowl?

And this thread will go 20 pages on that premise, too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the bowls are to pick either the best available in the standings, or a team within one game of that team, right?

That is, if LSU is 5-3 and they're the best available, the bowl who is selecting has to pick LSU or a 4-4 team. Am I wrong?

I say... LSU fans didn't respect Clemson or the bowl we went to last year, and we got beat. How about this year, wherever we go, whoever we play, we cheer our Tigers, respect our opponent, and act like it's the most important game in human history?

Last year seemed to be the most lobbying by the SEC offices for certain teams not named LSU in a long time. Im still trying to figure out how the 2005 team that had one loss during the whole darn season ended up in the Chick Fila Bowl after we lost to GEorgia in the darn SEC Championship game. I don't seem to recall too many SEC teams falling so fast in my life.

1) Bowl money gets split between all SEC schools.
2) LSU is in play for Outback(Jan 1), Gator(Jan 1), Cotton(Jan 3), or Chick-Fil-A(Dec 31).

The SEC isn't going to push for another team over someone else. Last year they pushed for the SECCG loser to go to the Cap One. It wasn't team specific. Also, I doubt the SEC has much power over which team the Cotton is going to select. Regardless of where we go bowling, it will be a good bowl game with national coverage against a good opponent.

Reality is, if it's not a BCS bowl, then most people don't care where we go.

It's easy to see, but not if you expect the world to revolve around LSU.

1. Georgia won the SEC. They're in the Sugar Bowl.
2. No SEC school was picked as an at large BCS bowl team.
3. CapitalOne Bowl selected Auburn, who was then the highest-ranked SEC team (they could have picked LSU but didn't want them a second year in a row, understandably)
4. Outback Bowl was set to pick Iowa. Understandably this meant LSU would not be going to Tampa because Outback did not want a CapitalOne rematch from a year ago.
5. Then came the Cotton Bowl, who had to choose between Alabama and LSU. Alabama was back to being a national power for the first time since 1999, so the Cotton Bowl understandably selected Bama, a great draw for them at the time.
6. Chick-fil-A took LSU.

You win some, you lose some.

Correct. But the SEC office sometimes steps in and makes recommendations.
