If the penalty flag was thrown with a hit on Manning, Rodgers, or Brady

do we hear as much from the media about how it was a terrible call?
I think you would still hear crap from former defensive players like Ray Lewis (let's be honest, the guy is a murderer and is an expert on violence) and Teddy Bruschi but I doubt you hear as much from the ESPN talking heads and former quarterbacks.
Brady gets farted on and he is looking for a flag. I have never once seen Brees get up from a hit and instantly start looking for the Referee to throw a flag.
For the record, I think the NFL actually got this call right for once. This call would have been illegal even if it happened in the 1970's. The NFL made tackling by the neck illegal in direct response to NFL defensive players like Nighttrain Lane.

Brady just got a call that didn't go his way and NE lost the game. Here we go with the "Louisiana Conspiracy Syndrome" again...

It is Wednesday and the ESPN idiots are STILL talking about it.
I'd have thought they'd switch to how Brady was horribly robbed on the last play in Carolina.

Who's calling it a terrible call? What little I saw seemed to split on former offensive players liking the call vs. former defensive players hating it, just like it always does for calls with the newer rules.

Only San Fran fans. Same thing would've happened had the roles been reversed.
I just don't understand why Saints fans collectively have a hard on with the hate for ESPN. They're paid to give opinions in the age of 24/7 news & sports and if they don't COLLECTIVELY suck off the Saints - they're all biased. Blah, blah.

Who in the media has come out in favor of the call?
I've seen about a dozen say it was a terrible call and a big fat ZERO say it was the right call.

Just from the AM radio I listen to... Brian Tierney, Dana Jacobs and Tiki Barber all said it was the right call. They said that they didn't like that it got flagged but that's the game today and according to the rule, it was a flag.
So, there's 3 people.

Every fan base in America thinks the media hates their team. You are on a Saints/LSU/Louisiana site so that's what you are going to see here.
I don't fall into that crap personally, because I think most of the media loves the Saints and New Orleans. On the other hand, no one can deny the northeast/large market bias, but that has everything to do with dollars.

Yes. Because the 49ers and their HC whined like little bitches after the game. It had nothing to do with the call itself.

and here it is on a Wednesday and people in the media are still talking about the hit on Brees. I just don't think the play gets nearly as much coverage from ESPN if it involved one of the media darling QBs.

This isn't a newer rule...

Newer is a relative term, especially as you get older That was a legal sack back when Howie Long was playing and thus he thought it was a bad call.

Who in the media has come out in favor of the call?
Troy Aikman seemed to think it was a good call during the game.

I wish the call was an obvious frick up with crystal clear evidence to prove it. Saints were on the shite end on so many calls over the years.
