Six would not be good because the decision of who gets a bye would continue the unfair argument

If you make conference champions the way to decide who goes, you make OOC games meaningless.
In my 16 team scenario, the at-large bids and process to get home field make OOC ganes very important.

No more than eight. I really want six

Most I would want is 6.

SOS would be a part of seeding like it is in every other sport

Why would it be fair for Ohio State to have to play an extra game to win the championship? What has Alabama or Fla St done to deserve a bye? In a 6 team playoff the argument is still there just different questions

So if UCF doesn't get a chance to play for the BCSNC this year it's flawed?
You are so simple. The reason every conference champion needs to be a part of the tournament(like basically every single sports league in the history of life) because it is the only way that teams can control their own destiny aka not a popularity contest.

-keep BCS -have BCS select top 8 teams -playoff games rotate among current BCS bowls -all other bowls stay constant
How has this not become the system yet? Pleases absolutely everyone.
Except for the bowls, which will have horrendous attendance. How many fans are going to travel to 3 separate bowl games to see their team in the playoffs?

16 is too many.
Even 8 is a little much, but it should at least guarantee that no undefeated team gets screwed.

each team plays conference games (8 or 9) only, no fluff games then have a 16 team playoff. So the champ has to only play 14 games a yr. Done deal

No. 4 is plenty. Maybe 6 at the absolute most although I think that would cheapen it a bit.

what should be done is drop this stupid college requirement bull shite and go whole hog minor league system. get dollar support from the NFL and pay the players minor league salaries. no classroom, no living on or near campus bs. hell, big time "college" football is only a step away frm this anyway; why be hypocritical? this way we can have a 16 team playoff and, like basketball, often STILL not end up with the best team winning.

The NFL does not want this.

I'd go for 12-14. 4 teams is only 3% of the 1A teams. That's a ridiculously small number. I don't think any sport at any level has less than 25% of it's teams participate in a playoff. Even at 14, you're looking at around 10%.
