I always wanted a southern MLB division with Atlanta, Birmingham, Nashville, NOLA, and Houston. The shite talking would be amazing.

New Orleans doesn't give a shite about pro baseball, and rightfully so.

not one MLB team averages 50k per game.

i think NOLA would be able to support it, add on Zephyr field and you have something. You could probably add around another 20k seats down each baseline and in the out field.

what it looks like now

obviously you wouldn't want more than 35k which would make it one of the smallest stadiums, but it would make the stadium look full due to the smaller size.

Saying Nola is a "football town" is beyond stupid. Louisiana has a huge baseball following even without LSU. Go look up the stats on college baseball

New Orleans got the Saints in 1967

As I understand it, that was only because our Senator Long and Representative Boggs twisted the arm of the NFL and would only exempt the merger of the AFL and NFL from antitrust laws if New Orleans was awarded a franchise.

I wish NOLA would get a MLB team! That would be awesome! Don't see that happening anytime soon though. A downtown ballpark would have to be built and we need more population.

I'd probably get into baseball if New Orleans had a pro team. Although it's probably for the best that we don't have one. The support would likely resemble the Pelicans.

Would be a must. If that were to happen, I think NOLA getting a franchise would be feasible.

I've been a huge Atlanta Braves fan my whole life, but would definitely become a fan of a team from New Orleans if they ever got one. Hopefully they wouldn't break my heart in the playoffs every year like the Braves haha

That would be so cheesy the MLB would never approve.

Idk whether they've come close to having a franchise before but I feel like NOLA should have one. I firmly believe the city could support it and would be a great natural rival for the Braves/Astros/Cards.

Always wondered the same thing about the NBA in STL. Kinda surprising when you think of it

After Westbrook Leaves, Durant follows later and OKC shrivels up they should move to St Louis

It really is surprising, how the hell do you argue with having a NBA team in STL vs OKC?

ETA: Memphis wouldn't even be in the same conversation as those two except it has a great basketball culture that drives it's citizens to support the Grizz.

As we all know, that city can't possibly support another major league team

ETA#2: and I'm a grizzlies fan

STL doesn't have the corporate dollars to support both hockey and basketball in the winter. The fan support wouldn't be an issue, but sponsorship dollars wouldn't be there. Unless the Rams leave in a few years.

Is there any kind of issue with the owners of the Spirits? They still get a few million a year from the NBA as compensation for not being included in the ABA merger.

Well, STL is a baseball town right up there with L.A. and NYC. I don't think basketball would thrive there.
