Solich was 58–19 (with a 7-7 season)
and was fired after a 9-3 season.
Just my opinion, he was let go too fast.
Anyway maybe he had some les miles moments..

It comes in cycles and Bama's luck is about to run out.
This is the "thread of the year"
Thanks

Bama's run has to end, statistically speaking. Look for Ohio State and FSU to emerge. FSU has loaded up in recruiting. They're an SEC roster in a weak conference. CUM will use his Florida connections to bring speed to the Big Slow.

quote:Well let's see, hmmm? How about making sure that the players don't smoke weed during the season? Would it be too big a stretch to get the players to actually feel some pride in being at LSU and concentrate on that rather than worrying about where they will go in the NFL draft? Or, and okay this is radical, make sure they know the plays and the formations they are supposed to be in because a lot of times they act like they are lost. And last but not least, take a course in remedial time management. Oh, and bonus points if he can actually get the center not to center the ball when the quarterback isn't expecting it which seems to happen at least twice every season.
Question: What do you think are the 2 or 3 major changes that Les needs to make to catch up to Alabama and keep ahead of Auburn, Ole Miss and Texas A&M?

You would think by now after soooo many late game clock mealdowns that Miles would have one person/coach who's ONLY job is the do time management. Maybe Miles does it himself (which expalins all the problems)!!!!

You can do this for me: If Alabama committed those accusations, then LSU must have done it too. Remember, Saban was the head coach at both schools. I look at the dates of your links, and I'm wondering why this fantastic news/sports item hasn't been mentioned in the media. I remember reading on message boards that Bama and Ole Miss will be in trouble with the NCAA. I also remember how Cam would be the downfall of Auburn. My God, Auburn is really down and got sanctions against them You need to learn that wishes don't always come through. BTW, I find it interesting that the schools that actually beat LSU are under investigation. My only question is, where in the frick is Georgia?

Bama's track record of hiring HC's hasn't been that impressive. After Bryant, there have been:
Ray Perkins
Bill Curry
Gene Stallings
Dubose
Price
Dennis Franchione
Mike Shula
Of those only Stallings was above mediocre. It also warrants mentioning that had Rich Rod not turned Bama down Saban wouldn't have been offered (someone correct me if this wasn't the case).
In the 28 year period from '81 (Bryant's last SEC title) until '09 (Nick's first), Bama won only 3 SEC titles.

Decline? Someone predicted that 3 years ago and then got instantly reprimanded by the host for posting it on TD Rant. Hmmmm!!!

+1
USC and tOSU aren't going to let up on this.
Saban won't be at a school on probation.

Man - that is a $hitty list - Curry and Dubose were serviceable - really only Stallings leaps out as a top tier coach, before the ALMFWV.

Saban won first with Shula's players....
Just sayin...

1-LSU does need to keep the best prospects in Louisiana at LSU and not lose them to alabama (or a&m or anyone else). Success like that alabama is experiencing right now allows them to also pick up top recruits from around the country. Once LSU gets back in the driver's seat they need to expand the recruiting to west of the Rockies...Tons of talent out here and a dominant program will draw that talent to Louisiana.
2-While I try not to be overly critical of players and coaches because I never played or coached at the D-1 level, I do think turning not just the reigns but the entire offensive horse to Cam Cameron would be the best way to go. To me it seems you can tell when the "Big Games" come up, Coach Miles likes to take the controls and hits the breaks...
3-I (myself first) would like to see us as fans realizing there are some things that no program can overcome (bama included), like losing 9 underclass starters to the NFL...Lets just dream for a minute that no one on last years D bolted early to the NFL.........

Question is where will the LSU program be when Saban leaves?

Bump....sooner than expected!

as much as I'd like it to be, this one loss isn't the end of the Alabama dynasty. They've still got players on top of players

Think Ole Miss was the killer this year - stopped us from a shot at a final Top 10 ranking.
Amazing year considering how weak we were in the middle of the DL with those Jrs thinking they are ready for the pros
