Forget every one else and other teams. What do we need to do to obtain excellence? It has nothing to do with Saban and it has everything to do with what we do from now on.
This is essentially Saban's philosophy. And it works. Know your job and do it at the highest level on every play regardless of the competition.

This was expected due to the mass exodus of star players. I feel like our team is simply meeting expectation in a rebuilding year.
thats part of the problem, if you keep the best we have we should never have these...last time i checked Bama loses quite a few jr's too, doesnt seem to bother them..

How about recruiting linebackers, especially inside, that weigh more than 215-220 lbs.?
That is where I would start.

Bama should lose 2 games next year
Posted on 11/12/13 at 12:50 pm to Chicken
No. It won't end soon, unless the NCAA finally stops the $$$ from flowing in.
Remember, it is not Bama does on the field (with the exception of 2013 so far) it is what they do off the field that puts them on a different level.

Good? Yes, but certainly not a superstar. 4.5 sacks over 13 games is a superstar??
Drafting is about potential as much as it is about previous production.
you're impossible dude.
but whatever, your right. over the past 2-3 lsu has had no depth or playmakers on defense. bad recruiting.

2. AJ McCarron won't be back.
i agree this will be big, i think he is the best QB in the Country and the fact that he hasnt been in the topic of of the HT is retarded, he is poised, confident, mobile, good arm and has great timing, i would spend a 1st round draft pick on him, i think he will be a hell of a pro...

Saban won't be there forever
yeah, but i bet he is going to be there a while, now i do feel Texas has a chance at him i think it s a long shot...and i beleive he has another 5-10 years...
1 Major change I want to see is in recruiting, i do not want to see another 5 star player from this state sign with anyone else...it should be on lock down. fact is Cameron Robinson and the safety from last year signed with Bama for one reason, a championship...You cannot lose those guys to other schools!! Both will hurt badly in the future....As good as a recruiter as some say Miles is (I dont really agree with it, I think its more the University) I still believe recruits think that we will not be be in the national title hunt until Saban is gone from Bama...
write that down, print it, quote it, i dont give a shite...

Question: What do you think are the 2 or 3 major changes that Les needs to make to catch up to Alabama and keep ahead of Auburn, Ole Miss and Texas A&M?
1. Involve the tight ends. This strengthens an already formidable passing game.
2. Run some misdirections. Look what it did for Bama last Saturday night. We have a very capable stable of running backs.
3. Designate someone on the sideline to manage the fricking clock. This borders on the ridiculous.

bad recruiting.
A few bad classes coupled with some big time recruits not living up to expectations are where the problems lie.

I agree with the Cycle theory. Bama has been lucky to hire a brilliant coach and give him carte blanche and have a weak permanent east division opponent in Tennessee while we have a strong one in Florida. And of coarse they have money and mystique and undo power over the SEC Comissioner going for them.
But I see the tables turning somewhat. Tennessee is going to get stronger and Florida seems to be getting weaker. Saban may retire or move on and Bama's new AD is a fossil. I'm patient. It's not time to hit the panic button. Also Miles is fun and Saban is a wet blanket.

my god dude. theres not another coach in the country as good as saban. les is probably a top 5 coach in the country, but he aint saban. nobody is. major programs like florida, texas, and usc show that programs dont recruit themselves like people seem to think lsu should.
the "look at bama they never rebuild we should never rebuild!" logic is stupid. every top team in the country, outside of bam a right now, has rebuilding years but lsu fans seem to think we are the exception to the rule.

we need to pay our recruits more like Aub, OM and Bama do

Remember all those great FSU teams under Bobby Bowden won only 1 National Championship.
Two ('93,'99) - recognized by Chicken?
It should be mentioned that:
- FSU finished in the top-5 fifteen consecutive years and never loss more than 2 games in any of those.
- Played for two more NCs (vs UF in '96 and OU in '00?)
- Finished 2/3 in seven of those seasons.
Incredible run.

We deluded ourselves with the "we don't rebuild, we reload" bullcrap. It wasn't true.
