Great post, Charles. People need to get a grip and enjoy supporting LSU football and all the fun that comes with it, as that's what it's really about.

I imagine most of the people who have lost perspective are either teenagers or miserable old men who don't have much else going for them in life. The game is played by a bunch of college kids we don't know. We have absolutely no control over what happens. Don't tie your life to it.

Sadly, a little. Not like I used to. I accepted defeat midway through the 4th. I couldn't sleep Saturday night. It wasn't consciously bothering me, at least, I didn't think it was. I think it's the realization that the program is trending down. Lsu football is important in my life. Probably too important. College football is cyclical. We'll be back. Anyone that's wants to see full delusion, talk to a bammer. They literally measure their self esteem by their teams' success. I have a Facebook friend that is an "internet badass" because his football team is better than yours. The kind of guy that's probably been in fights from running his mouth about his fandom. He really puts things into perspective for me.

You don't pay a coach over 4 million a year because it's unimportant to people.

I used to take college football too seriously. I've matured and it's now just a pleasant pastime. An LSU loss no longer ruins my weekend.

I used to take sports far more seriously when I was younger and a loss would usually stay wth me for a long time. I also took my frustrations out on my family with a bad attitude and such. As I've aged and hopefully matured, it's become much less of a big deal. I've realized its entertainment and even if LSU wins NC's, there is no lasting benefit from this nor does it change my life in a tangable way.

That's exactly how these Bammers are. Act like its a job being a fan and it effects their day to day life! Morans!

If you own an LSU t-shirt or any other LSU gear, and if you make it a point to watch LSU football every time they play, you are living vicariously through LSU football to some extent.

But, it is healthy to keep things to a minimum, now that things have shaken out a bit for LSU football, and, we realize that we are not a dominant dynasty of college football greatness and championships.

A friend's dad died during a LSU game in Tiger Stadium, I believe it was around 1979. She said each game for him was as serious as a war, if LSU won there was not a moment of joy, just a shift to worrying about the next game. On his last game night LSU was down 3 or something like that, had possession of the ball, but the clock was running out, he was screaming for them to call timeout and dropped dead from a heart attack. For some the game really is as serious as life and death!

We can't even rant on the rant without some Frazier telling you that your a loser. I'll mind my own feelings you do gooder. If your such a zen master, the rant seems like a bad place for you to hangout!

IIRC, you're a former player. I was reading the FB posts over the weekend of a former player I know slightly, who made the trip to Tuscaloosa. He was all about the great time he had, socializing with fans, family, and friends. I'm sure he was disappointed in the loss, but it didn't wreck his weekend. Maybe guys who actually played the college game have a more balanced perspective than the average fan.

Chuck, I love LSU footbal and am disappointed if they lose. But with that said, it is just a game and that's all it is. I have much bigger fish to fry in this game called life than beating myself up over an LSU loss in football. Besides, like him or not Miles makes it a damn fun brand of football to watch, and the players have fun playing for him. Isn't that what sports and games are all about.

I just do this thing where I drink a ton of beer on game days.

If we lose, I'll be pissed for about an hour. And then life goes on.

Why such a length post about something you say that you personally consider to be insignificant?

I truly pity some of the folks here so full of venom that they have lost perspective. It's game guys. Many here act is as if they've busted their asses all week and their life is now skewed by the W-L column.

Hey, I understand the dissatisfaction, but not the over-the-top anger.

Honestly, I'm just as displeased by the season, but as is the case every year, I am reminded by these poor souls to keep it in perspective.

It's like everyone should be miserable or they loathe them as well.

quote:

Well of course that is pathetic and I don't doubt you,but let's be honest here. What percentage of Lsu fans do you think fall into this category? Less than 1 percent? Your statements seem to be directed toward a much larger group than that. I mean why would you start a thread on a social media site and try to prove a point based on less than 1 percent of our fanbase to support our argument?

I'd argue that it was closer to 10% of the fanbase judging by what I see and hear from most LSU fans. The people who are sensible get demolished by a bunch of retards in Walmart jerseys with no grammar.
