Jessica Lange, on filming "American Horror Story" in New Orleans

But Lange’s favorite character on this season of American Horror Story may just be New Orleans itself. “There’s Madame LaLaurie, there’s Fiona Goode, there’s Marie Laveau, there’s New Orleans. It’s unique in this country I think, that city. It has this extraordinary ability to live in the past and the present. Time kind of melds. I don’t know any other place like that. And so authentic still, to its culture and to the people. You feel on the street what these people feel about this place. I mean, you walk down the streets of New York and everybody just looks so unhappy,” she notes with a laugh, staring out the window above Times Square. “They’re not all that happy to be here. But in New Orleans, you get this sense that this is home and we’re connected. We’re connected through generations and we’re connected through the arts and the music and the food and the culture. I mean, it permeates the air … not to paint too rosy a picture because there’s a lot of darkness there, but what I find fascinating is how you can be in a place where you sense the decay and the decadence and the elegance and the spirit and everything is just moving together.”

Welcome, Jessica, to the greatest place on Earth.

That's the mixture of horse shite, urine and vomit in the gutters on Bourbon

She would've talked about the history and culture that permeates the air of Baton Rouge if it had been filmed there.

NOLA is a very unique and interesting place. Personally, I really like it and have stayed in the FQ or Mettarie (sp?) maybe 20 times.
Would not want to live there permanently, but I keep coming back and having fun over and over and over.

This. I thought her comments were apt, and a very good description of N.O.

I really like when outsiders can appreciate some of the unique aspects and feel to New Orleans. No, it's not the greatest place in the world or whatever some would have it out to be, but it's a helluva lot better than most places.
I'm not from Nola nor do I live there now.
Resume flaming.

I'm from Nola and I think what Lange said was a bunch of BS (and I've watched all 3 seasons of American Horror Story).
It makes no fricking sense and sounds like some delusional crap that an out-of-touch Hollywood actress would say; they generally think they have the authority on these matters because they're 'cultured' and 'worldy'...and quite frankly what she said contradicts itself..."decay, decadence, but yet at the same time it's elegant"...da fuq does that mean???
Lighten up Francis
She was trying to say nice things about the area she is working in. But I guess frick actors and the money/free advertising they give the area from their NOLA productions right?
And she was saying that while the city has parts that are coming apart which look grimy and broken its still has a certain regal beauty about it that you don't necessarily find in other major cities. And yes, something can be decaying and still be called elegant. Ever heard of the Sistine Chapel? That shite is falling apart but its still elegant.
I mean damn. Could you have sounded more bitter over a fricking compliment?
