I would refer back to last year's game versus the underdogs LSU faces.
Les' and his players' MO is to play to the level of competition and I expect him to do so Saturday.

Believe it or not, if Mett does a half way better job at check downs, LSU wins that game.
IMO, that was the first game I saw Met try to feather a ball downfield to a receiver rather than gun it with authority. It was a different long downfield ball for him... aiming rather than throwing.
Met appeared to be trying to improve on a part of his game that really didn't need improving much.
He'll get back to what was working before and we're in great shape.
Let's just win out and enjoy them as they come.

Try as I might, the Ole Miss loss kicked the shite out of me and I cannot seem to shake the fatalism I now have regarding this game, this team, this coach and this program.
I hear ya Lou, those are the games that make us question why we remain fans all these years.
But we don't have a choice. The shock of that first game at Tiger Stadium decades ago changed us forever. We will gut-check the game last week and look forward to Saturday knowing we can beat Alabama. We will believe. We have to, that's the way we are.
Geaux You Yaller Britches!

I'm with you, Charles. Bunch a whiners around these parts. Not only do we always play Bama tough, we play them even better in Tuscaloosa.
Miles evens his career record in the series with Saban this weekend.

this group really takes the fun out of this site.
What takes the fun out of the site for me is people like you (and you are the worst offender I can think of at the moment) who continually ascribe false and obviously weak arguments and positions to people you disagree with, and then proceed to argue against those made-up positions. And then sit back and wait for people to pat you on the back. Argue FOR what you believe if you want. That's every man's right. But don't just argue against things you imagine your opponents to be saying.

blame les miles for saban going to bama.
Who does this?

lose a game or barely win a game or let an inferior opponent hang around for a half and the problem is in decline.
Who does this without saying that the problem lies in repeatedly losing a couple of games or playing down to your opponent? Nobody with a brain is basing their negativity off of one game.
quote:
our ups get these fans assuming we'll be undefeated and our downs get these fans assuming we will not win another game.
Who does this? You would have to be absolutely clueless to do either of those.
quote:
i'm just going to say that les miles is held to the highest standard of any head coach in the country by these fans. beat saban and beat sabans accomplishments at bama or you suck
Seriously? You know LSU fans who expect Miles to win 3 out of 4 national championships in any 4 year stretch? Or did you just make that up too?

At least they would have a good excuse for their behavior. What's yours?

Coeur, anyone that has a pic of Duane on their post must know what the hell they're talking about. Maybe by game time the fire will return. I will, of course, be screaming for dem Yaller britches regardless.

For us older guys, the season was over after Mett lost the O'Piss game trying to be the hero. We totally pissed the game away with a lesser team. Poor coaching & poor playing ! If we play Sat. we could beat the gumps, but I will wait & see.

quote:Losing to an inferior Ole Miss team is a program embarassment any way you look at it. No excuses here. Bottom line, the coaching staff didn't have the team prepared to play. That game shouldn't have been close, even with the three picks.
They shite the bed against Ole Miss, but didn't get pistol-whipped

No, we're not. But we could be so much better. That's the whole point I think.

then frick them until they become Bama......amirite?

what about les letting the clock run out? WTF is that? It wasn't all mett's fault. A coach is suppsed to put his players in teh best position to win.

Your right of course, but it's not going to make me feel better when Bama slaps us around.
Posted on 11/4/13 at 2:26 pm to CharlesLSU
i cant argue that point, but players frick up and win or lose games on the field.....THE ONE frickING THING A COACH IS SUPPOSED TO DO IS PUT HIS PLAYERS IN THE BEST POSITION TO WIN, SINCE HE IS NOT A PLAYER ON THE DAMN FIELD.

...problem is, people seem to be able to see into the future and are acting like it already has happened. THAT is unfair.

I remember watching the game seeing ole miss trying to lose the game in the 4th quarter
I don't think I've seen a team try to choke as much as they were trying and we still lost. Just saying.

I like where your head's at.
UGA was tough, but it was a shootout against a good team. Had one or two plays had a different outcome, the ending could have been different. Of course, it ended as it did and that's the way it goes, but it was a good game. And LSU actually did show a bit of guts climbing out of the hole they dug early against Ole Miss. They came pretty close to pulling off an amazing comeback. But, again, they didn't and that loss sucked the wind out of the fan base... and made the Tigers look a bit exposed defensively.
I don't disagree that the defense has looked soft at times-- especially in the middle. Then other times I think they've looked soft and they've gone a quarter or maybe a half and held the other team to nothing. I find it hard to say exactly how good or bad they are (though I'm sure others have some specific opinions they'd like to share... yet again). I guess I just find the defense a bit inconsistent.
Anyway, like you, I do believe if they can tighten up and get in sync, they can have a nice run to finish this season... starting this Saturday. Not saying they will pull it off, but I believe they can. Here's to hope...
