They shite the bed against Ole Miss, but didn't get pistol-whipped. Mett spotted them 3 INTs in the first half......3! Believe it or not, if Mett does a half way better job at check downs, LSU wins that game.

UGA at the time was damn good. They were healthy (sans Gurlly), at home, and full of hope. Its UGA, not Kentucky.....

These kids played 9 straight weeks and lost the handle on their fate, yet the Furman performance was an indictment of the true capabilities? Please.

When this young group is motivated, they are quality and can beat anybody. There in lies the difference between the NCAA and NFL. Saban has a challenge in keeping his group focused on the fact that LSU is not hot garbage. If they think this, LSU will smoke them. Granted, no one is better at keeping players focused than Saban.

I fully expect a lot of people to be surprised come Saturday night.

see fumbles happen to both teams, but Mett's poor choices were team-specific. He knows he carries the most blame.

Even with all the issues, LSU had Ole Miss on the ropes. People are acting like LSU lost by 21 pts. As far as injuries, Ole Miss' strength was offense, not defense.

LSU fans, esp some on here (esp the regular posters) have two problems......

1) chicken little syndrome. lose a game or barely win a game or let an inferior opponent hang around for a half and the problem is in decline.

2) uber criticalness. all teams have their ups and downs and we play a more demanding schedule than almost all teams. our ups get these fans assuming we'll be undefeated and our downs get these fans assuming we will not win another game.

add the hatred of les miles with a small but extremely vocal fans and add that nick saban used to be our coach and the vitriol is out of control at times. my only analogy is spoiled teen age girls on their period.

the biggest amazement i have is that there is a segment of fans that blame LSU for saban leaving and blame les miles for saban going to bama. i'm just going to say that les miles is held to the highest standard of any head coach in the country by these fans. beat saban and beat sabans accomplishments at bama or you suck. this group really takes the fun out of this site. it's only fun when LSU wins and wins big.

Gdad, whats screwed up is that I found myself writing the Tigers off. Just this morning I decided to be analytical about the current state of affairs and realized its smoke and mirrors......and behind that smoke and mirrors is a very dangerous team.

GREATLY respect your opinion.. but disagree. Lack of maturity on defense and the more I keep hearing about people being more focused on getting to the NFL than representing the purple and gold.... the more I think this decade plus run of the golden era of LSU football may be wavering.

Tigers of old would have played with a career threatening injury to BEAT an Alabama....not anymore...

Whatever the consensus of The Rant is, the exact opposite is true.

Try as I might, the Ole Miss loss kicked the shite out of me and I cannot seem to shake the fatalism I now have regarding this game, this team, this coach and this program.
I am shocked that this is the case, but it was just one damn time too many I guess.

Where do you hear this utter garbage?

Now.. let's look at other students. They have their career in mind. They are focused on getting a job at Apple/Google, Dow/Exxon, Goldman... Would you say that they are not focused?

If they are focused about getting to NFL, they will do well. NFL is not going to take guys that do not do well in college.

Even if we didn't lose to Ole Miss, we would still have to jump over 5 unbeaten teams to get into the NC...A 1 loss team is not getting into the NC this year. If we beat Bama, fingers crossed it ruins their season

STOP this mythical BS. They don't play with concussions any more. They diagnose injuries better. If a doctor says no, teams are cautious.

Bertman is often berated for reducing the shelf life of some star LSU pitchers.

My problem isn't the Ole Miss game, LSU drops one to a lesser team from time to time. It's how awful the defense has been compared to what we are used to. LS couldn't stop Ole Miss or even Miss. State, not sure how LSU is going to stop a methodical team like Alabama.

I didn't expect much last year, and LSU made a game of it. So maybe this year will be a better game than I expect.

players, former players.... parents of players...

heck one BR media guy said it recently too.. that many players took it easy after bama loss last year so they could stay healthy for NFL.

nobody aiming for med school takes it easy in a biology class....

be very careful in trusting some of these people. some of the most poisonous (& wrong) sources of information are those with inside perspective. many of them are jaded and spin shite........and some are just fricking stupid.

Funny thing would be.. if Auburn happens to be that 1-loss team.

They didn't make it as an undefeated team. They know a two-loss LSU won the NC. They a 1-loss team that did not even win its division (Bama) won the NC. A host of 1-loss teams won the NC from SEC (LSU, Bama, UF). Now they could be left out, because people are tired of SEC

Don't care a bleep for what it does to their season. I'll enjoy the win even if they go on to win the NC.

Don't be so fatalist......I think many wrote off LSU in 2008 and they have done fairly well since.

Also, getting to the NFL requires playing time and success, so that desire to get to the league is actually a positive.
