Depends on your age. Nebraska 93-97 was the greatest run I've ever seen.

Didn't OU win like 45 straight games in the 50's
Just checked. It was 47 from 53 to 57. Thats insane

What LSU's D did in 2011 with the atrocious offense they had against MUCH better offensive competition than Alabama played is a miracle.

The only blemish in this 6 year dynastic run by the Tide has to be blowing the 24-0 lead to Auburn, not only letting a rival win a national championship but costing the team a BCS berth and an 11-2 season.
but yeah, 4-1 against rival Auburn during this run as well. and 4-2 v LSU
but hey, it kept hte SEC streak alive I guess?

Our defense was better than yours. There is no argument.

Oklahoma won 47 games in a row.

The Nebraska program reminded me of the U.S.S.R. Big, roided white guys just methodically ramming the ball down the opponent's throat. When they were gassed in the second half, the 4 and 5 yards gains started to become 13 and 16 yards gains. That offensive line would just lean and lean on you am then they'd eventually plow teams. Even great defensive, athletic teams (Miami, Florida, Tennessee) would eventually just be mowed over. It was something to see.
And then, Charlie McBride's Blackshirt defense.... . They were the Alabama defenses of now back in the 90s.
As a loyal Michigan alumnus, I don't think you could find one honest and realistic fan that will admit that we could stay within two touchdowns of the '97 Nebraska team.

Bama has greatly benefited from the BCS as much as any team possibly could.
They earned their titles in 2009 and 2012, but pre-BCS championship, they likely don't win the title in 2011.
I am not saying they weren't a great team, but you'd be hard pressed to look historically at this team and ignore the fact that other teams that were in the top 2-3 didn't get afforded the same opportunity that Bama did. Same with LSU 2007.
Nebraska from 1992 to 1997 was 69-6 with 3 NCs, a loss of a 4th NC by 2 points, and near a third NC in 1996 (where UF rematched FSU).
All of this without the benefit of the extra gimme game Bama has had the past 6 years with the 12 game regular season schedule.
So no, I wouldn't call Bama the greatest dynasty ever, but they are up there.

I disagree. Would have been a great game. Best D vs Best O.

Utah isn't a blemish? How about losing the Game of the Century at home? Or the next year to A&M?
Not saying Alabama doesn't deserve the praise they do because they really have been amazing, but they have lost two November home games in back-to-back seasons. If the cards fall differently (such as Oregon, Oklahoma State, and Kansas State not choking) there are threads on here talking about how big of a fail Alabama has been.

And they won the Big Eight every season from 1947-1959 complemented with three national championships, and 10 of those 13 seasons they finished with one loss or less. Insane.

Get over 2011. If anything, Jan 9th proved it was LSU that didn't deserve to be in that game. That was an embarrassment.

Well, it's either Nebraska in the 90s or Alabama right now as far as best dynasty ever IMO.
but if Bama wins it this year its not even a discussion.
To me it's not even a discussion as is. Bama fricking stacked as frick dawg.
