Not really. CJ is a new head coach but he is on the older side already being 50 or 51. CJ is local and he is tied to the hip with the Saints(Bensons)who have thrown a lot of support Tulane's way because of CJ. He could leave I guess if he felt he was not being valued but that won't happen. Tulane has thrown money (not a lot of money) to really bad coaches that didn't deserve extensions or raises. When they hired CJ I figured the only competition would be if an NFL team came calling again or The U. CJ is there to stay if we take care of him. The bigger issue is not CJ, it is giving him enough money to keep his assistant or bring in quality ones should they start leaving. They had two coaches get better offers last year but they stayed. They have a DB coach that has been offered by two different head coaches at Tenn to go there and he rejected them twice. Tulane needs to make sure they can pay their assistants and they need to make sure they football program gets more money so the coaches can give the kids all the free shite (swag) that other schools are able to do. NCAA allows you to give X amount of gear to the kids and Tulane needs to be able to do that. They also badly need a new locker room if it hasn't changed much since I saw it a few years ago.

Was good to see Tulane made a slight uniform change for the game.
Here's what they wore the first 2 home games of the year. They looked cool, but it was impossible to see the players numbers
They wore these yesterday:

money they don't have since it's all going toward a program-killing stadium
bottom line is he's winning at tulane. think about that.
winning at tulane...

you sound like a NIMBY

i live in chalmette, but if you play in the dome, why would you leave?
and if Tulane ever hosts anyone that NOLA fans might notice, it has to be in the Dome...

A new stadium is what Tulane needs. Playing in the dome is cool, but it has no atmosphere at all. Getting the few people that go to the games in a closer quarter environment will make for a better overall atmosphere and game experience.
I went and watched the first half yesterday, and the overall atmosphere was just flat. If they continue doing well, theyll get a slight bump in attendance.

"why would you leave the Dome" does not equate to program killing.
why do you think it will kill the program?

Think about what? Good coaches win at Tulane.
Money Tulane has and has access to. Almost as silly as Ott saying USM has more resources than Tulane.

That depends on how you define resources.
Posted on 10/13/13 at 10:06 pm to saintsfan22
If you define resources as budget, boosters with money, conference affiliation, location, history, and stature of the school, you know, those sorts of picayunish things, then Tulane would seem to have more. If you define resources solely as being able to admit anyone you want for football then, yeah, advantage USM.

they're effectively admitting that they will never be big time again by building a stadium not out of place in the FCS...
whereas if they play in the Dome and draw fans, the Big 12 or ACC might want them

If they need a bigger stadium, they will expand Yulman or play some games in the dome. While Id prefer we stay in the dome, leaving is definitely not a program killer.

I played against CJ in high school and have maintained a friendly relationship with him since then. I can tell you that Tulane is his dream job, but money talks. Right now his base is right under $450K. Tulane will definitely have to step up after this year.

They better, he'll have earned it.

This is exactly why I think he stays. He's from NOLA and he's got Tulane on an upward trajectory.
That being said, money does talk. If James Franklin gets picked off by a bigger school, I could see Vandy making a run for him.

To get the Dome even half full they'd have to get like 10 times as many people as they get now.

A big empty Dome isn't going to turn them on.

The Dome is a program killer, not the new stadium. F-ing Chalmatians.

As a recent alum I agree with this 100%. It's going to be much easier for students to get to games now. That alone will add a decent amount of students.

He isn't leaving Tulane for Vandy. Vandy is a way better job at this point but not one of the few he would leave for.
ETA: He really wants to make Tulane a winner and contender on the national stage. I know how stupid that sounds right now, but if he continues to get La kids to buy into his system and stay home along with transfers looking for a fresh start he will get there.
