Does Gravity need to be seen in IMAX 3D?

I have heard (much like Life of Pi) that this has to be seen in IMAX 3D, or it really loses a lot of its power. We don't like 3D at all, but I will go watch a movie in 3D if it appears to be essential to the enjoyment of it. We were just wondering before we decided to go. TIA

No. They show it in 2d.

I'm the same way, I don't like watching movies in 3D, but I felt that Avatar was definitely better in 3D. I've read enough to convince me to see Gravity in IMAX 3D.

yes I normally don't say this but for a change the 3D adds to the movie and they don't use 3D to add a popping effect to make the movie more enjoyable. 3D adds depth and effects to the movie. Its great.

if you can go see it
but its not essential to the enjoyment of the film. You could enjoy the film on a computer screen sitting in a chair it is a great movie.

I just saw it tonight in IMAX 3D and It was freaking incredible. I'm not into 3D either, but with this film I do think it's essential

I can't imagine paying $15 or whatever to see a movie. No movie is that good.

I saw it in a regular 2D screen. Was enjoyable.

I saw it in IMAX 3D.
For me personally, something about 3D gives me a headache every time. Not the content of the movies, but something with the picture itself. Maybe it's the glasses or the blurry picture. . . Every time I see a movie in 3D, I swear it will be my last. But I always end up going back for one more, getting another headache, etc.

Saw it yesterday. Anything less than 3D is a disservice to the visuals IMO.

I finally went. I generally avoid the 3D version of movies (annoys my eyes), but I was convinced to see this in IMAX 3D. I think it's a must-see in both IMAX and 3D. The IMAX screen fills your field of view, and it's worth it to feel like you're in space with Sandra. The 3D is subtle but also contributes to making you feel like you are there, floating with Sandra.
I'd go see it again, but it's frickin' $19 in the Bay Area . That's the most I've ever spent on a movie by far.
