Here is what can be expected for those of you who are making the trip to Starkville:

NEGATIVES:
-Unpredictable weather, might rain, might not, who knows?
-Overly confident fans.
-A stadium that has cut the student section in half for construction.
-A town with a variety of food... fast food.

POSITIVES:
-Harvey's on Highway 12. Get this: start with the fried mushrooms with wine and cheese sauce, get the marinated ribeye as your entre with a caesar salad. Ribeye is marinated 48 hours in soy, pineapple, garlic, and ginger, one of my favorite steaks ever.
-Black Crowes, which should be cool.

Those are the only good things in this shat hole city.

Been hearing it from my buddies this week about how LSU will come out flat after UGA and State will steal this one. Also the last time I had a break from school and Starkville was last Christmas break so my level of negativity for this city is at an all time high. Anyway, have a good time up here, watch out for ABC if you are underage, they will be out in numbers for the bash.

People who don't pull for their school are odd.

My brother goes to Arkansas but is a huge LSU fan

He would of went to LSU in a heartbeat but decided to stay instate due to out of state tuition

It's not uncommon

I figured it would probably be Bulldog Bash weekend. That will make it a little more fun (weather permitting of course)

IMO, Starkville get too much of a negative rap. No, it's not as good as some of the other SEC destinations, but it's not terrible. There's decent southern food (good BBQ), a good college town atmosphere and plenty of hot college girls to go around. It's not one of those "we have to go every year" spots, but it's worth making the trip every so often.

I was "the LSU fan" at UM, but I never had to deal with the team coming to town. Chick-fil-A Peach bowl was pretty sweet though.

Can you post some about good bars/restaurants where I could get a drink on gameday? I know it's limited but there's got to be something. I see a Buffalo Wild Wings, a place called Halfway House, Bin 612, Beer Garden. Comments on any of those?

Annnnd he's gone. I'll open that up to everyone then.

While not a culinary mecca; youre underselling the Starkvilee food scene. I always enjoy going to Mugshots, The Grill, and Old Venice when I'm in town.

That will be perfect for all the "Cheesers" making the trip. Hey wait, "Cheesers" don't really care about LSU football, so I doubt any of them will be going.
