Sitting in the theatre about to watch it in 3d

Everyone says to see it in IMAX 3D, but my wife virtually refuses to go anywhere but Canal Place. Dilemma.

Who's there with you?
Popcorn?
Candy?
Any doozies on the movie trivia?

Not really when the studio says anything under a $40 million opening is considered a failure to them.

Nope, I will not waste my time or money on a movie that doesn't appear to be the least bit interesting. I'll wait and probably watch it on FX in 5 years when it comes on after Armageddon and before Men in Black 3.
that sums up my feelings too

Link?
Tracking was at 30 million 3 weeks ago and most articles I read considered that a win.
Box Office Mojo forecasts 41.2 million fyi, but they think that is just about the ceiling for a fall release that isn't a sequel.

I don't think you picked up the sarcasm.

I'll check through my browser history later, but I definitely saw that number in several places last night. Considering its budget (at least $80 million), it definitely needs to have that amount in its first week because it won't have great legs.

You really need to try to convince her otherwise. I saw it in IMAX 3D last night and it was nothing short of an aesthetic masterpiece.

OK, just got out of it and I'll keep it spoiler free. A little background is that I have actually never seen a movie on IMAX. Growing up the closest one was in New Orleans, which was 6 hours away and thus basically unfeasible that I make a 12 hour round trip just to see a movie when there are hundreds of theaters closer. I'm living in PIttsburgh for the time being, and they have one. I knew this was the perfect film to break my IMAX cherry.
And holy balls, what a movie. And I mean that, because my balls literally went numb during the film. All the complaints about simply watching the trailer for this movie are simply unfounded. Sandra Bullock is fantastic in it, and will get a nomination for Best Actress, and even I had false suspicions on her in the role. If you're concerned about it being boring, that's like being concerned that a Michael Bay movie won't have a ridiculous amount of explosions. It is the most thrilling movie in several years. And speaking of Michael Bay, I think the incredible explosions are fine here too. Michael Bay explosions aren't necessarily bad, you just need to know when to use them and when not to, which Cuaron clearly understands.
Cuaron throws everything he can at you to keep you on your seat, and he completely succeeds. What you saw in those clips aren't even the most intense parts of the movie, so have no fear.
While I'm hesitant to say it, and know it's saying a lot, I think I may have just witnessed one of the greatest films of all time. Not since 2001 has space been done this well and been this terrifying. The symbolism is great as are the themes. It's probably the single greatest cinematic experience in my lifetime. I wouldn't go as far as A.O. Scott to say that it completely rewrites cinema, but I can see how someone would think that. You owe it to yourself to go to the theaters and watch this incredible experience.

Is this movie headed for Drive and Prometheus differences of opinion? Quite a range of opinions so far - interdasting.

Can't think of anyone who says it sucks. Even GCA thought it was pretty good. It's just going to be debated if it's one of the greatest films of all time or not.

Damn.
I need to see this.

Perhaps, but I've read quite a bit of grumbling regarding the dialogue being, how shall I put it, lacking?

It's not really the point of the movie though. Did 2001 have that great of dialogue? Not really. Can't say I was really particularly looking for it.
