Two 1,000 yard receivers on the same team

Anybody know the last time this happened in the SEC? I've gone back as far as 2004 and it hasn't happened in that time frame. In LSU history, I've gone back to 1958 and it hasn't happened through that point. I would think it never has.
Through 5 games this year, Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham are both on pace for over 1,300 yards receiving.
Landry: 520 yards
Beckham: 507 yards
Obviously, the 1300 yards is a long shot but if you assume a minimum of 8 games remaining, both them need to average around 61 yards to reach the 1,000 yard plateau. From a dismal passing game to accomplishing feats never seen in the LSU passing game.

Reche Caldwell and Jabar Gaffney had to have done it for Florida in 2001. Those two and Sexy Rexy were unstoppable that year.

You're good. I just looked that up. That was indeed the last time it happened in the SEC.
Gafney: 1191 yards
Caldwell: 1059 yards

I just remembered them going off on LSU that year right after Kelley Washington went for 250+ yds receiving the week before...that team managed to pull it all together and win the SEC and Sugar Bowl
Either way, to your original point...it is pretty damn impressive how much they've turned it around from one season tot he next.

2001 must have been a great year for receivers. And of all of the great ones that year, Josh Reed was the best.

This would be a wonderful lesson for the Rantards who think the season is basically over on account of our defense right now.

Josh Reed and Michael Clayton did it in 2001

Reed had 1740 yards and Clayton had 754.

Good god, 1740 yards! I remember the 21 catch game ad Reed being an absolute freak, but didn't realize he had that many yards, for the season

It hasn't happened in LSU history. LSU hasn't been too successful throwing the ball throughout its history.

Luckily UT would beg to differ on that last part. I still say there was no chance of us beating them that year.

reed was only a receiver for 2 years and had 3,001 career receiving yards. I think he had 11 100 yard receiving games just in 2001.

Thinking about his 293 freaking yards performance in Bryant-Denny still makes my special purpose tingle.

Reed is the Hershel Walker of SEC WR's.

I remember watching games on TV and Reed would be so wide open, there wasnt a defender on screen with him when he caught the ball sometimes. his routes were so good, his cuts were so precise.
he must have just given up when he went to buffalo. if he would have gone to a team with a good QB, he could have been a Steve Smith.
