There is a lot of bashing of the db's. The worst performing group

in my opinion is the defensive line. They are not pressuring the qb or stopping the run. You can hide your db's if the d. line is putting pressure on the qb. the qb will not see a open receiver if he running for his life.
I think coach haley says it best. Anthony Johnson should be called Anthony until he gives a reason to be called freak. He certainly has not been impressive.
All the talk with anthony and ego going pro after this year is laughable. The silver lining is they should be back next year to go with the younger guys maturing.

you never know, but on field production is certainly lacking for Johnson.

Agree 100%
No pressure on Murray and not even any push. Johnson was standing straight up on most plays.

I mostly agree as our whole defense cannot stop any body & will not improve much this year. Maybe our payers are not as talented as we think.

secondary is horrible....if we face a seasoned qb....that secondary is toast....can we name 1 shutdown corner on this squad....or 1 cb u would trust against a bonafide #1 receiver in the SEC?

This is the absolute truth that no one wants to believe. At this point, there are a lot of over rated/hyped players on that defense.
I don't like saying things about a player because they are working their butts off. It's not their fault they were thought to be better than they are.

The game was decided in the final minute when Mett threw three straight incompletions and the score stood 44-41.
Imagine what the score could have been had Loston not taken Gurley out of the game when he did. We would have been gashed all night, Georgia would have run the clock and the score would not have been so close.

Dline is certainly mediocre, but nowadays nobody gets a rush with 4 downlinemen unless you have a 1st rd talent like Mingo, Brockers, etc.
Today's CFB starts in the secondary. If you can play man, you can blitz and be more creative. if you can't leave your CBs on an island, then you're fricked.

The score was as close as it was with Gurley running the way he was. Our offense was clicking. Imagine what the score could have been if we didn't muff a punt or turn the ball over more than the opposing team.

I think we have three pretty good corners in white, thomas, and mills. I think you would see their performance as pretty good if they had a pass rush to make the qb be early or in accurate with the ball.

If the DE's were wreaking havoc, the attention would have to be spread around and not be able to be focused solely on the interior linemen.

If things happened differently, the score would have been different! You are the Oracle.

Defense is down all over the league this year.
Why? Because the majority of defensive players in the SEC in the last three years played football yesterday.
You cannot expect to not have an over-correction when you've had a run of defensive excellence like you've had in the SEC over the last few years.
Furthermore, we let games in our grasp slip away twice last year, with Mingo/Montgomery/Minter & co. For that matter, when is the last time LSU has made a defensive stop to win a game? Bama 2011?

For all you know UGA would have just tried to give him the ball instead of attacking our weak secondary. That could have resulted in us outscoring them since they couldnt stop our Offense in the second half.
I could also say we would all be singing a different tune today had one man not tried to catch a punt with his facemask.

Watch the video on dandydon.com and see Micah Eugene get beat twice by the receiver by looking inside. If he was to let the receiver go and then the safety play over the top or cover then it broke down. How could it have happened twice

Before Gurley went out, Georgia was averaging 9.2 ypc. After he went out, they averaged 4.0. Had he stayed in the entire game, it is very possible they would have duplicated the 400 yard performance Auburn had in 2010.
As for the muffed punt, it was the only turnover we had that night, compared to the AJ pick, making the turnover ratio equal. I consider those two fluke plays that ultimately offset each other.
