So you're saying that the team may have "real designs for the back end of the season?" no way, not possible.

Coaching decision. Miles randomly benched players all the time. Who knows? Maybe Diarse plays Saturday with Brazil.

LSU under Miles has never had the tight end featured to any large degree. That may change but it hasn't happened to date.

I guarantee that the running backs will be a huge part of this offense going forward. Ray Rice and LaDainian Tomlinson were huge in the passing game under Cam. He's sandbagging because he hasn't needed to use that portion of the offense yet.

I agree with your statement and disagree all at the same time. I just think if you're going to run something well, it's needs to be done all the time. I just don't see that all the sudden in the biggest games we start throwing out all these new sets and routes

I could be wrong. But I am a firm believer in, what you see is what you get.

chill my friend. we have just been setting up teams to have to use extra help with landry and dbj. then the 3rd wr, te, & receiving running backs go to work.

Until defenses shut down Landry and Beckham, I don't see any reason not to continue throwing to them. Eventually defenses will have to pick their poison, double one of the outside wr's and open up the middle for the te's and rb's or continue with single coverage and get burned multiple times each game. So far teams are giving us the outside wr's and Cam has no choice but continue feeding our playmakers.

Dickson had 2 pretty big plays in the last 2 games, would have scored a TD if he didn't trip over his own feet.

Landry and Beckham have been dominating out of 2 WR sets. If people aren't going to stop them, then keep throwing it to them.

yea but the op has a good point. we will get to an opponent that can cover these guys, esp in a game where the refs "let 'em play" (like tcu). i forget what game it was last year but kadrone boone was the star and we would not have won without him. florida may be that game where we need to pull out all stops.

When Zach is forced to find his 3rd WR he will. So far he hasn't had to to with any regularity

there is something to be said about forcing opposing teams to plan for other weapons.

In other words, show 'em everything if you have it.

LSU would have to be very fluid with their adjustments in that case; couldn't wait till half or quarter breaks. (not that that's what is happening)

From 2002-2012, these are the reception totals by the top receiving RUNNING BACK in Cam's system: 79, 100, 53, 51, 56, 39 (Ronnie Brown in only 7 games), 33, 78, 63, 76, and 61.

Hard to believe that a system that has seen its top running back average 66 receptions in a season is just going to remove that aspect from his offense.

It's coming...

Completely agree. I think it's nonsense to "hide" certain plays or formations. Maybe we hide a "trick" play, but for our regular offense, let 'er rip.

Not only does it allow us to get experience running those plays/formations, it gives defensive coordinators an extra thing to have to prepare for.

So no secret playbook. If you got it, run it.

What do you think when Matt Barkely went to Lee and Woods, what about Oregon State going to Wheaton and Cooks? If you've got two great weapons, use them a lot. Other receivers will get the ball if they can get open and consistently catch passes and when they are needed.

I suppose if you look at your post, and several before it, when it gets down to it we're talking about balance.

And not run-pass ratio, balance in what you show vs. what you use. Instead of "keep going to it until they stop it", it's a matter of "keep going to it until they THINK about stopping it". Hell, that may be one of Cam's secrets of success.

Never really thought about it that way.

If our top 2 WR's are having incredible seasons - the Rant,"why isn't the 3rd WR producing?"

If our 3rd WR is shining - the Rant, "our 1 and 2 wideouts are busts."

If our QB is finally having a good year - the Rant, "where are our stable of RB's?"

If our RB's are lighting it up - the rant, "why can't we ever have a QB."

Etc.

It never ceases to amaze me.

I had high hopes for Dural and still think he has the most NFL potential than any of them. But at this point, he has not taken advantage of his opportunities.I think we need a quick guy running short crossing routes and quick outs. Wes Welker type of receiver, maybe its Jarrett Fobbs or Diarse. TE's just havent had many opportunities. Right now keeping the pocket clean for Mett to complete his missiles has been enough and the priority. With Hill in the back field maybe the 2 Wr set is enough, certainly one of those two guys will continue to have 1 on 1 coverage with Hill back there. This will be more than most defenses can handle as it is. Keeping Mett healthy is probably job 1 for the OC as long as we stay unbeaten.

Last year we debated who our #1 WR was all season.

I think we are fine.
