Are the Lakers better than the New Orleans Pelicans?
Hard times in La La Land when thats the title of an La Times article
Wait til next year when Kobe laughs at them asking him to take a hometown discount and Lebron/Wade/Melo/Bosh don't even answer their delusional free agency calls

They're still pissed we wouldnt trade them Ryno for nothing to bail them out of their epic failure of last season.

My problems are that he confuses depth with having a full roster and youth with a basketball skill.
On the Lakers in general, they did nothing to make themselves better on the court. They were bad on defense with Howard and Metta. They will be worse with Kaman and Young/Johnson.
If Kobe comes back early and plays like last year, they will be in playoff contention. If not they wont hit 35 wins.
The Pels arent a juggernaut but they did at least attack their weaknesses- defense and poor guard play- this summer.

Best to ignore him. He's a bandwagon annoyance. Really all he would have to do is take Lebron out of his avatar and people would stop bugging him, but he enjoys the attention. I personally enjoyed the

I think that is the point of his article. If everything breaks right for them and maybe they get lucky with a move or two, they might be better than everyone thinks. It's a fluff piece for LA fans, but he's not totally wrong. They are not an awful team, especially if Kobe/Nash/Gasol are on the floor. Those 3, in the right system, makes them a strong team. Yes, they are old, but motivated and healthy, they will still have their moments. The Howard deal was a disaster, but maybe there is addition by subtraction there.

I'm not touching this. I know the team is better and I liked picking up Holiday, but I didn't like the other moves this summer. They should win a lot more though..

Yes he is. Here

with both teams at 60-100% capacity, the Lakers have the better roster.
and here

The Lakers are more experienced and have greater depth at nearly every position.
The Lakers have greater depth at 2 positions- PG and C. And PG is pretty close. LA is a team built around three players whose combined age is 107 and are all coming off injuries. The rest of their roster is floatsam.
LA could make a playoff run, but they are not clearly better than the Pelicans just from looking at the rosters, as this article does.

Off the court, sure. But even a pouting, injured Howard was pretty damn good last season. They will miss his production big time. And you could easily flip this to the Pels and Gordon. He will be happy to play w/ his friends Jrue/Evans and will play better

Look it is certainly a fluff peace for LA in the offseason. With that being said he it should be a close race for these two teams if Kobe is healthy. I am not sold on Monty coaching late game situations and LA knows how to finish. They also finished way ahead of us last year.
NOLA will never get the respect LA gets even if we win the next 5 ships.
