Paul Pabst, who works in those offices, said he's still there.

reading through the lines, it seems like there is some drama within SI and this got out and the RUMORS (not saying it's true) grew to "evans was fired" on social media. SI likely didn't anticipate that quick of a break, and is covering their arse now so they don't look like the biggest joke in sports since te'o
them taking down evans on their list of writers for a bit does make it seem like he was fired, but it may be worse for them in the end to fire him

It's awfully strange that they still haven't released part 4 of this series yet.

yeah either they're trolling for the cheapest gasp of attention by a a major media outlet in modern history, or some shite is going down

So much for SI's announcement that Part 4 would be out "later this morning." Now p.m. at HQ. #LSU

with how fast ESPN got on some inconsistencies, it wouldn't shock me to learn that CNNSI got sent some emails from some very expensive legal teams yesterday/this morning and now they're in "oh shite" mode, calculating cost-benefit

Wright Thompson just kind of came to Evans' defense. That surprised the living frick out of me.

Congrats to Sports Illustrated for finally making it hard to find sex on the internet.

Something has definitely happened. I would suspect that you are correct and they are at least fact checking right now.

WTF kind of name is Thayer anyway?
Posted on 9/13/13 at 11:19 am to SlowFlowPro
I hope their in oh shite mode just so I can laugh at this tweet.

I'm sure OSU is eager to help SI save face when they reached out this morning

Your response took the high road...I admire that!
Anyway, I have been involved in law, athletic media relations, athletic Mgt, collegiate football talent evaluation, football recruiting for 30 years. I know Les, etc. Les just wants this to go away. He is extremely ethical, and took a job at OK State, where you don't get the top end players on the ethics scale...you get some guys OU, etc wont take. This was a stepping-stone 5-year plan for Les to get the Michigan, an SEC or a Big 12 State flagship-school job. At every school, there are 10-20 guys participating in these activities...getting money, etc. There are also low character guys, who are angry they didn't get to the league and make up stories...lie. The former players were quoted accurately in the story, but now feel like douches and are playing the misquoted card to save face, because they lied and embellished originally. 10-20 kids each year doing dope, trying to get paid, stealing, etc...at every scool...coaches can't stop it...they can just get on the record against it, preach about it and react to it.
I have some more info than most, but no proof. I just know much of it was going on, as it is at most every D-I and D-II school...wherever you have kids, whom without football and scholly money, wouldn't be there. To me, the problem here is that SI is signal ing out one school and a handful of good mentors/coaches, that are good people with no control with what was going on outside the limited time periods the NCAA allows them to be with the players...this happens everywhere.

Good post
I have no doubt that stuff happens at most schools in major football conferences. When I say the story is bullshite, I guess I just think it is a little ridiculous that this guy seems to be singling out and taking pot shots at Okie State.
That said, if it gets Joe Deforest fired at WVU, you won't hear me complain
