gave up 20 points to TCU, 7 was when drive started on the LSU 5. And 17 to UAB after going up 28-0. This doesn't seem bad to me. They look just as good as they always have.

Giving up the edge and up the gut a little to much for my comfort at this point.

Chicken, is there some kind of work/poster release program or something?

I haven't been to the Rant in awhile, but I think you're doing good things for these people.

Don Henley said the heart of the matter is forgiveness. Thank you, Chicken.

They're not.

The run defense numbers do concern me a little. I trust they will get better.

The defense is not nearly as imposing as it has been. Traditionally, LSU's defense is faster than the opponent's offense.

This is not the case this year, as both TCU and UAB had quite a bit of success running outside the tackles. In addition, Mills getting toasted deep wasn't a one-time event; there have been several times where WRs are running free but the QB just doesn't see them. A more accomplished offense has a chance to put some serious points on us.

It's my hope that most of the issues are from being inexperienced, and will resolve over the course of the season. That said, from what I've seen, I'm not sure putting 30 points on UGA or A&M will be enough. For that matter, the scheme Auburn runs might give us fits too.

I have seen some bad angles taken and some missed tackles. I still believe this is a championship defense, and all we are doing is trying to find the right combination of players to put on the field. Chavis will get it done.

Actually, they only gave up 13 if you're not counting the drive that started at the LSU 5.

Special teams gave up 7 on a kick return.

Maybe not as good (yet) as the last couple of years, but I don't know of anyone who is saying it's bad.

Bad tackling angles in secondary. Past few years it was one of our strengths. Now, not so much. I'm sure they will figure it out though.

They will get it fixed with personnel changes, a lil coaching, tackleing, better angles and such. Not too worried, may give up points but won't be ridiculous points like y'all are saying!! Nah they will fix this! We will see better D in the game then I think we Shut Auburn down once the real SEC game shows up! Gotta remember we should be scoring points and some of those teams will give!!! Just have to play mistake free and get personnel correct, then it's all good!

To me they seem either slow or less aggressive.

We've probably gotten spoiled by the D's of the past few years.

This defense kinda reminds me of the 2010 defense. Young but a lot of potential. I remember getting gashed by Newton. I think that's sadly going to happen this year with Mandel. We simply have too many young players who do not understand the concept of containment and pursuing too hard.
