Count me in the camp that doesn't have a problem with it. You're barely allowed to tackle anyone anymore. Now the defenses have to put up with this HUNH crap?

Employing smart, fit players and leveraging their talents isn't "mickey mouse".

Faking because you're too weak and out of shape to keep up is even more pathetic than flopping to try and earn a foul call.
This. Especially because guys in football will exaggerate to get a call...like pass rushers when held or WRs for PI...

Pathetic. They, just like soccer, need to institute a rule where a player who gets "injured" has to sit out of the game for a certain amount of time and it should be a significant amount.
Make it the rest of the drive. It should all but eliminate this type of stuff, and if a player actually is injured to the point where he needs medical attention on the field and the game to stop, he should probably be out for at least the series anyway to be checked on, and then he can go back in on the next one.
Three pages and no one thought that the defense would put in a backup to take the fall, thereby his failure to return to the game wouldn't matter for the defense.
C'mon guys, y'all are slipping.
ETA: There is always eventually enough time for one guy to run out there and get "hurt."

I'mfairly certain faking injuries has been part of football since it's inception.
Back in the 80s and 90s offensive players used to fake injuries after the 2 minute warning to give the offense more time on their final drive of the game. Happened all the time, hell the announcers used to call out their own teams.

Faking injuries influences the ref to call an injury timeout to slow down the game, helping defenses regain an advantage
They arent really gaining an advantage, just evening out the playing field
I just dont see the big deal.

every team does this, big deal

It's a known fact the D gets more tired than the O. The D has all 11 players running, while the offense only has about 5-6 AT MOST running on every play.
It's an inherent disadvantage and it would be nice if they made a rule either stating the ball can't be snapped until 15 seconds left on the play clock or the defense is allowed to substitute or give a "ready" signal before the ball can be snapped again. Would be more true to the game of football. I guess they could make an exception with 5 minutes to go in each half.
Right now, it's just bitch ball to run HUNH. Basically, all it does is wear the Dlines down which is when the bitch ball teams run the ball because they couldn't possibly matchup man to man.

"We have instructed all officials to be on the alert for violations of this rule. Further, if it is determined by video review or other means available to the League office that defensive players are engaging in such practices, such players and their coaches may be subject to disciplinary action," said the memo, sent by Dean Blandino in his first year as the NFL's vice president of officiating.
The memo also advised teams that "violators of this policy will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action for conduct detrimental to the game which could include fines of coaches, players, and clubs, suspensions or forfeiture of draft choices."
Feigning injuries is not restricted to defensive players as teams prepare to face no-huddle, up-tempo offenses. Last season, receiver Emmanuel Sanders was fined $15,000 for feigning injury and his team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, was fined $35,000.

I don't think it's a big deal in and of itself, I just think it's interesting people don't have a problem with this but hate soccer for diving or basketball for flopping. Then again, IMO I see them as being similar in nature, and you don't, I'm cool with that

Urlacher comes off like a huge count by revealing this. Like he's bitter at the team for cutting him. I can already tell I'm going to hate him more than Canseco

If there's a way to level the playing field, without breaking the rules, it's fair game to me. Lol to supporters of nh getting pissed about it.

i think it's smart football that just changes a paradigm that people are resisting
and it does have negative effects, namely fricking up and tiring the shite out of your own defense

This. If teams wanna play a pussy style offense, then defenses can play a pussy style defense.

Why don't players just have their helmets accidentally fall off their head?
