It doesn't at the very least raise an eyebrow that he doesn't kick field goals for his high school team? Is LSU going to have 2 kickoff guys on scholarship next year or are they planning on trotting out someone who has never kicked under pressure next year as the field goal kicker when they have a capable walk-on? After Colby D has a solid year, Gamble will be Dalton Botts'ed. I just don't know why they have to even get the kid's hopes up.

It shows me that the staff is placing more value on the kickoff than you are...or maybe more than the typical program does.

It's a similar issue with a deep snapper. This staff values that position highly.

Field position is worth a lot.

I watched him on film and while he had a big leg, I had major issues with his approach. I was also skeptical on his accuracy.

Just when it seems like the Recruiting Board can't get any creepier.

LF is so good. He can run than punt then score all in one play.

This absolutely boggles my mind. I don't want to rip on a kid, but this makes absolutely no sense to me at all

Only problem I have with post like these are that you have no idea what the coaches see in the player in question, and you also have no idea the conversations the coaches have with these players. He may not even be given a scholarship. It also may be contingent how the class shakes out. Considering hes a kicker, he should have no problem with the coaches saying, you may not have a spot if we land all our targets. I dont see our coaches telling these kids they have a spot and there is nothing to worry about. If that were the truth, then what would make a player hold up their end of the bargain? Weve held up our end on multiple occasions with players either not making grades, getting in trouble off the field and injured players.

The one thing that was blown out of proportion was the Elliot porter deal. But guess what, he's our starting center now and has a full ride to LSU.

Considering Delahoussaye will kick for 3 more years after this and Hairston has one more year I don't see why a schollie is being used on a K this year especially when the majority of your kickers have been walk ons.

You mean in the history of the program or just under Les? Cus this would be far from the truth. You guys dont remember in 04 when saban held open tryouts cus he couldnt find a kicker that could make an extra point.

#1 - We can't seem to get a kickoff into the end zone
#2 - Most other teams can boot it farther than Hairston
#3 - Kickers RARELY get a full ride or get a grayshirt offer

It's annoying when we offer kickers. We have a kicker on scholarship now that got beat out by a younger walk on. A few years ago we had two on scholarship. It's a waste.

But with his speed he can keep up the traditional of Colt David & Josh Jasper's fake FG reverse runs.

I never have a problem with offering kickers because special teams have won us a lot of games under CLM. He did find one of the best punters we have ever had in Australia.

Hell the high school coach may be playing favorites.

3 of our last 4 kickers were walk ons. They need to earn a scholarship. Not be given one before they play.

if you find a guy with a big enough leg to put a kickoff into the end zone, offer him a scholarship. Let kids who may develop into 45 and in FG kickers walk on.

Neville's kicker was kicking it to the back of the endzone every time Friday vs WM. He also made a 44 yarder with ease. WM's kicker missed a 54 yarder wide left the week before vs Parkway. Point being, there's plenty of guys that are out there.

This is hilarious.

Offering this kid a scholarship may be a future recruiting tool or maybe a return favor. But I agree, I don't see the value in this one. Walrus has a good point
